    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

Will it be tough trying to study the FAR using the Wiley text book alone vs watching the lectures? The lecture is too long and I’m not good at taking notes. Can anyone help me?

    Thanks

    “The lecture is too long…”

This is not the attitude to have going into CPA Exam studying mode. Just my experience.

In my opinion, the lectures help pinpoint the topics that are most covered on the CPA exam. If you're confidant you know the concepts then you should go without viewing the lectures.

I think I have a friend who passed FAR just using the Wiley book. That being said, I think you need to be prepared to put in a lot more time and effort than you think you would. Financial IS really long and difficult to get through, but it can definitely be done. The lectures can be very beneficial and I don't think they should be put aside because they are too long (unless you are taking the exam in a week or something like that). If you don't take good notes, (and even if you do) maybe purchase NINJA notes and go over those/write them over. I personally did not take notes (other than the ones dictated on the lectures) and passed, but would have been better off taking notes (but I don't think I thought of writing more notes back then).

For some people, the lectures are a complete waste of time, for others they are very helpful. It depends what works for you – but I don't think it's good to skip them because they're long.

I wasn't able to pass FAR with Wiley. I had to switch to Becker. I thought Wiley was fine for the other 3 sections since I passed those easily but the FAR book is enormous. You need to be prepared to take extensive notes to help you learn and memorize all those different parts. I think Becker would be a better fit for you since they tell you what to highlight and to take notes on. I put in 8 weeks with Wiley FAR – took good notes, did all the questions and sims. It wasn't enough, there is just too much info to try to figure out what is important

    BEC – 77

    AUD – 93

    REG -79

    FAR – 67, 11/14/12 (Waiting for 11/21 score release)

I vote for the lecture! The book might be a good one, but well.. it's not the same if you read it. And it's also important to go to the lectures, that you know the “direction” of the exam questions more early. At least for me visiting lectures is very important because then it's easier for me to learn!
