    Hey Everyone,

I plan on starting to buckle down and study for the CPA exam and take the REG in January of 2013. Can anyone give me advice on what study material packages that helped them out the most (I don’t plan on going to the Becker classes).

I know with Wiley their 2013 packages don’t come out until December 2012. I want to sit for the first part in early January, if I would to order the Wiley 2012 REG study material, will that still be able to help me past that section?

Watch the demo videos if available. I bought all 4 sections of the Yaeger home study. I am not sure if it is the best or not, but I will tell you Cindy Simpson teaching FAR was incredibly solid. The guy that teaches AUD for Yaeger (Gary) is not as good as Cindy, at least not as detailed, but I did really like the way he walked through the MCQs and I can hear his voice in my head as I answer AUD MCQs… in a good sort of way, lol.

I have no experience with the other sections yet, but I don't know if I would have passed FAR on the first try without Cindy. I have heard really good things about Roger CPA Review as well. Good Luck!

    FAR - 81 (8/31/12)
    AUD - 93 (10/19/12)
    BEC - 79 (11/27/12)
    REG - 92 (2/8/13) DONE! All 1st attempt!

I have had really good luck with Gleim. I have never ran into a sitation on an exam that wasn't covered by Gleim. Although Gleim does offer tutorials, I'm not sure if they'd be considered the “best ones.” But I definetly study and learn better reading from the book than listening to videos and lectures anyways.

I ordered CPA Excel…I used it for FAR and that was it…I wished I wouldn't have ordered it for all of them…Don't get me wrong It was helpful in FAR however I wished I would of just ordered Ninja Notes/Audio and Maybe Wiley Test Bank….I have never used Wiley Test Bank but I am a true believer of Ninja Notes….I personnally believe that you just need Wiley for the Test banks and Ninja Notes to cover the rest…..CPAexcel-I do like and I especially like the fact that it renews forever until you pass…No more fees after you purchase it one time..I didn't really use it for anything but FAR and maybe some MCQs and Simulations for the other test…I haven't passed them all yet, but I truly believe that I would not have gotten as close as I have without Ninja Notes…Jeff does a good job with narrowing down what you need to know and study…In the end, no matter which study material you choose also choose Ninja Notes/Audio…Just my 2 cents..

AUD- Attempt 1-Passed!!!!!!!!! )-Praise the Lord-Couldn't have done it without him.
    REG-Attempt 1-(73)...Attempt 2 (Passed Baby)-Praise the Lord-Couldn't have done it without him.
    BEC-Attempt 1-(71)...Attempt 2 (Passed Baby)-Praise the Lord-Couldn't have done it without him.

The study materials you choose will be the ones that fit you best. I started out with Gleim (cheap, student discount) and they did not work out for me at all. Gleim is more of a “Read the Text”, do the MCQ, wash-rinse-repeat.

I prefer more of a classroom setting, with instructors teaching the material, so I opted for Yaeger. With Yaeger, I am able to understand the material instead of just memorize it. But, that is the way I learn.

So, research the materials, view the links Jeff posted above, and decide which method is appropriate for you.
