BEC Writing – I'm like a fish out of water

I’m very left-brained (math oriented), so I’m really struggling with the writing component for BEC. I never realized I’d miss the SIMS in REG, AUD, and FAR! I pull up the Becker writing samples and I just blank. I don’t know where to start or what to do. I usually end up just looking up the topic they’re asking about and copying what the book says. Does anyone have any advice for the writing for someone who prefers to solve problems?

    REG (2/24/12) - 89
    AUD (4/5/12) - 89
    FAR (5/31/12) - 91
    BEC (7/7/12) - 84

Judging by your scores you will have enough points from the multiple choice to write anything you want on the WC. My strategy during the test was to get a general intro and conclusion with a brief reference to what they were asking for. The middle paragraphs were organized BS. I just wrote something I recalled from studying even if it was probably wrong.

My studying for the WC was the same as yours. I figured it was mostly useless so after a while I started focusing on blazing the multiple choice.

I have had an English teacher tell me that if you have limited time and space to answer a question, then you should write three paragraphs.

1st – Tell them that you are going to tell them something

    2nd – Tell them something

3rd – Tell them what you told them.

This is a very simple version of her actual advice. She was far more eloquent. Just make sure your grammar and spelling are correct.
