BEC WC

Hey everyone, I know this has been asked multiple times, but I have BEC tomorrow (gulp…) and have a quick question regarding the written communications.

They grade on spelling and presentation and whether you wrote about the topic at hand, correct? But they don’t grade on accuracy, correct? For instance, say I get a question about exchange rates, and say I didn’t know a thing about them. If I incorrectly wrote that when the price of the US dollar appreciates, exports (outflows) increases as well (which is wrong). I wouldn’t get marked down for that, would I?

I just don’t want my WC’s to be a paragraph in length because I’m too afraid of putting down a wrong answer.

    Thanks everyone!!

Most of the responses you will get on this thread will tell you that content does not matter and that as long as your spelling, punctuation, and writing skills are on display, you will receive full credit. I do not subscribe to this way of thinking. I am quite certain that a response that has accurate information will score a couple additional points than a response that is equally well written but has incorrect information. I don't recall what the word for word instructions were on the exam, but it made it quite clear that content would be a factor in determining your score.

I think on each of the written communication tab they tell you what they will be grading. Like for example: “This simulation will be graded on content, accuracy and grammar.. I am trying to think back to the BEC exam and I think that is accurate to say.

I had two basic ones that I already knew and could write well on and one that I barely knew. They do have some grading on accuracy but most is on well written-ness. If you don't know the answer then at least try to write a plausible sounding one and write it well. There is little you can do to study for the topic since there is no backlog of asked questions.

Thanks for the replies everyone! I ended up getting two that I was comfortable with, and one that asked me about something I had NEVER seen in my life. I ended up writing 5 paragraphs about something I completely made up. Hoping for the good grammar/spelling to offset the loss of accuracy points! Haha. It's going to be a long wait until November 28th.
