    Sup friends,

I figured a thread like this might help a few peeps taking BEC in Jan.. (myself included)

Here’s the areas I’m going to go HAM on…

    1) Corporate Gov… short section. studying AUD’s IC section made this easier to understand. Anything we should know cold?

    2) IT – Mainly memorization but the volume of items to study is a lot. Any formulas in this section?

    3) Economics – Micro is easy as pie but Macro sucks. Formulas aren’t hard in Micro.. gotta know them cold though. How can I make Macro as enjoyable to learn as Micro?

    4) Financial Mgt – I’ll be honest.. I haven’t studied this yet. Any areas I need to focus on?

    5) I’m not sure about this last section (Yaeger – its multiple sections but Cindy claims its only 14% of the exam.. 5-6 different lectures.. not sure if this is worth studying if you don’t have much time)

So here’s my question.. if you had only 2 weeks to prepare… what areas would YOU focus on?

For sure, I would focus on the areas which you are weak. I also have a couple of weeks to complete – which i'm done with Becker review. Perhaps, take a random test of all concepts – such as the Becker progress exam to pinpoint your weaknesses.

    AUD - Passed:)
    FAR - Passed:)
    REG - Retake TBD
BEC - Missed by 3 points Retake TBD

@Roach: If you are running so short on time that you cannot even go through all the material once, I would advise you to move your exam. Not even covering 14% (give or take) of your exam is a huge risk. Even if you get a unique exam that has only 5% in that section, missing all those questions will hurt a lot. It will hurt even more if you get a simulation on that material that you didn't cover. I would strongly advise against it, but of course if you must choose at the end what to study then pick your poison–rework topics you're good at and master them, re-study topics you are weak at and become at least comfortable, or a bit of both.

SPA, I was actually thinking the same thing. I moved my date before and it cost me 35 and I told myself I wouldn't do it again this time and I'm going to take the exam no matter what;however, if pushed it back 2 more weeks I'll be more than enough time.. I have a week to decide. Thanks for the advice.

Better pay $35 now than $200+ later.

@Roach: Personal example, I had FAR scheduled for 10/3 but a week before the exam I was only on F4 since I had some things come up that made me get so behind during September. I moved it to 10/13 and that gave me just enough time to finish up the lessons at a reasonable pace and do a brief review for about 3 days. Worked for me. I am fairly certain I would have failed if I took it on my original date. This is one thing you do not want to try your chances with, in my opinion.

My second try at FAR, I felt SO under-prepared.. I moved my exam a week. Barely passed by the skin on my teeth with a 75. I'm all about rescheduling to when you feel okay enough to take it. Especially since you have not covered all of the material. Come on Roach get your head out of the smoke clouds 😛 lets do this!! Get working! What have you completed thus far?

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

BEC was my beast. I failed it 4 times before passing, I even lost credit for Aud so I retook it immediately to get it

back. Aud and Reg were easiest for me BEC was AWFUL, and I can tell you from taking the dam thing 4 times

that every time the topics that were tested heavily changed. So you need to know all the topics as best you can because

you never know what you'll be tested heavily on.

I think (if you have the time and money) to go ahead and take it as scheduled and if you don't pass, count it as a practice test.

    Good luck!

    @Roach

For me, I had used Becker and the Becker notecards–which I thought were great. But then a week out to my exam, I felt like I was scoring well because I inadvertently started to memorize the q's—so I used the Gleim free trial. They did a great job on corporate governance and other items. The questions were tough, but helped me hammer things down. It has been a bit since I took the exam, so I can't remember details! I do agree that the topics are random (took it twice) so pushing your date back for more time is probably a smart idea.

    Good luck.

Definitely be strong on corporate governance, coso, and cost accounting. In my opinion, those three are the lion's share of the exam. I reviewed those most heavily before the exam and felt comfortable going in. I wouldn't worry as much about econ, cost accounting and variances should be your priority if you're not strong in that area.

Know your variances. I had a great accounting prof who used the a method to show how to calculate variances, and it was a breeze for me. It looked like a football goal post diagram.

Hey just wanted to say thanks yall. I'm going to change my date. My mindset is good though.. I don't feel like I'm going to slack off or anything.

The last time I changed my date.. in my mind I said ‘hell yeah this gives me more time to chillax until my test date' haha. This time I feel good. I'm not even going out for new years just str8 studying this weekend and next.

    Thanks and god bless.
