Ok my BEC exam is in a day and I just started B5 (Becker) and will finish it tomorrow. My question is: If I have some extra time, should I review all the cpapters or read through B5 appendix? There is no way I will have time to do them both not to mention that I migh not have time to do either one. Any advice much appreciated!

I don't exaclty recall was was in the B5 Appendix (don't currently have my BEC book with me) but i'd skim over the chapters instead…. the information in the appendix is not included in the regular information for a reason… good luck!

    FAR: 78 BEC: 79 REG: 86 AUD: 74, 83 DONE!!!

Not scoring yet, I will finish reading everything first and do the problems tomorrow, it's past 2AM already and my brain is useless. B1-B4 i scored in the low 80s.

just scanned the appendix flow charts-

Spend about 10 min no more – just a quick look at the pictures on

    Appendix 1 B5-89, 90, 92, 102, 104, 106

Yeah, thanks, I'll probably review instead so I can at least get what I know already right. This appendix is 40 pages long and it's mostly budgeting stuff.

you are in pretty good shape – there may be questions from the charts – but they are common sense just scan them once and move on

Thanks again, yeah I really don't have more than 10 mins for the appendix. Procrastination is my biggest enemy, I had 2 weeks to study and somehow shrinked it into 9 days again. But i still felt more prepared for AUD than BEC.

Just remember sales budget first and financial budgets always last and the rest is common sense.

Skim through the chapters, especially Ch1 which is easy details, but lots of them.

    FAR - 7/26/10 - 95
    AUD - 8/10/10 - 88
    BEC - 8/31/10 - 88
    REG - 10/15/10 - 95

Thanks. It's 3am so I'll do 30 more mins and sleep. Then it will be me vs. B5 tomorrow. Good luck, post after your exam. Thought BEC would be easy for me since i double majored in finance but then again it's only 20% of the exam and cost accounting was my least favorite acct course and it's 1/3 of BEC. It would suck if I fail both AUD & BEC, that'd be 1 month of my summer I could've done nothing but sleep and enjoy life.

Not only I majored in business and economics and I got a MBA in finance, but I always worked as controller/director of finance so budgeting and capital budgeting should be done with my eyes closed.

It's not the case, this section is tough and should not be taken lightly just because there's no simulation.

    FAR - 7/26/10 - 95
    AUD - 8/10/10 - 88
    BEC - 8/31/10 - 88
    REG - 10/15/10 - 95

Yes now I see that BEC is time consuming. Plus, trying to do these cost accounting problems on their little ‘no function' calculator turns a 2 minute problem into a 5 minute problem. I'm just doing them on a TI83 for now so that I can save some time. I don't get this calculator deal, I saw prometric give normal calculators to other exam takers…

The electronic calculator has never been a problem for me. I would recommend you practice using only the calculator on the screen though as this is the situation you will face on exam day.

Maybe you can handle covering BEC 5 in two days, but I probably spent close to 40 or 50 hours on BEC 5 alone. Given, I have hardly any background for the material so it was all new to me. I think it paid off as I felt comfortable with that section on the exam. Doesn't mean anything if I bombed the other chapters' materials, though. We'll see.

Good luck on your exam. If you don't get it for some reason, I would recommend a more thorough study for chapter 5 next time as it is a huge part of the test.

    AUD - 74, 87; BEC - 84; FAR - 78; REG - 79

Thanks. Yes I agree B5 deserves a lot of attention and I also don't have any background except the 1 cost accounting class I took maybe 2-3 years ago. But at this point Im just going to try and take it, worst case scenario it will be ‘practice' for my next try.
