So I have BEC scheduled for Dec 4 (this upcoming Tuesday) and I have only had time to get through half of the Becker book (lectures). So, I have all weekend and Monday to study. Can I prepare enough? I got a 94 on AUD and an 86 on FAR, obviously with a little more time to study. Any advice? Do I go for it, or do I re-schedule?

Since you are at the end of the testing window it can't hurt to try. If you reschedule you'll be pushed into the next testing window anyways…and if you fail you can take it in the next testing windw. The last 3 chapters of Becker are really easy, but you do still need to get through them.

    AUD: 80
    REG: 78
    BEC: 82

I say you should reschedule. If you fail, you have to spend $200 to take it again, but if you push it back its much cheaper. Why go into battle with half of your weapons? Take it in Jan and use the entire month of Dec to fully prepare.

Like the previous poster said, chapters 4-6 are not that difficult especially since you already took far and audit it shouldnt be too difficult. You are at the end of the testing window now take a shot you might as well. Maybe you get lucky and pass. The worst thing that can happen to you is that you get to see the test, whats on it, how they are testing items and you have to retake it later. Plus I am a big believer that you should never waste a testing window.

To study i would just do as many progress tests as possible and as many MCQ as possible. Make sure you read why a question is right or wrong and go from there and give her hell.

    FAR - 88 (Jul 2012)
    AUD - 85 (Oct 2012)
    BEC - 82 (Nov 2012)
    REG - 92 (Jan 2013) DONE!

Why not waste a testing window? I mean I'm not going to be able to take another part until April anyway (busy season). So I could take it early January and it wouldn't be any different other than now I will study in December.

Heres the thing as well, I know I wont fail if I take this next month to study, It will be the same amount of time that I used to study for AUD and FAR and I knocked those out of the park (by my own standards that is). So why not take a guarantee and save $200.

I say take the $200 gamble. Its a calculated risk; you seem to be a good test taker judging by your other scores, and you are half way through the book.

How strong are you in non-accounting subjects? Finance, econ, business?

    How is your writing skills?

If you're strong in those areas, I think you might be able to cram in a win–well worth the $200 risk IMO (provided you're not starving lol)

I guess ultimately we dont know every aspect of your situation it is up to you but i would highly recommend you take it now. because even if you fail you can retake it in Jan just like you were planning on doing. Only this time in Jan you will have an expectation of the exam and feel for it. Plus the opportunity cost is only $170 or so bucks. What i am trying to say is there is no real downside to taking the exam and retaking it if you fail.

I guess we all have differing philosophies when it comes to taking this exam. Mine is that take as many of them as you can, you are bound to pass them eventually, so give yourself all the chances you can…

Take it. Spend tonight and tomorrow either skimming, reading, or watching lectures (just get through it some way or another so you are exposed to it) then spend sunday and monday doing non stop quesitons. Im all about what a few of the others have said…..take the risk and see what happens.

And nothing is guaranteed my friend….even if you wait and study a bit more you are still not guaranteed a pass. Something else might come up in Dec and or you might just not do as well on this exam.

I am definitely not one to recommend pushing the exam back. I also think BEC is easy and studied about a week and a half for it at max. With that said, if you have a lot of material still to cover I would reschedule.

I passed all four sections on the first attempt
