BEC caught me off guard

After FAR, i didnt think anything would stop me in this battle. I started BEC last week and have been struggling with many of the concepts. I am struggling in a different way than FAR……with FAR it was the amount of material i felt overwhelmed with. Now after getting into BEC, I feel like I just cant wrap my head around some of these concepts i learned several years ago.

Im not sure what my deal is, but i need to snap out of it quick

I am also trying to figure out why almost everyone claims BEC is the easiest of the 4 exams……maybe ill feel that way later, but definitely dont at the moment

Don't let anyone try to convince you that ANY of these tests are easy. Just keep moving forward and remember the only way to fail is to quit. Good Luck!

I found BEC to be the easiest, studied less than two weeks–I felt it was a much broader exam, where you needed to know a little about a lot of areas (as opposed to my feeling towards AUD which requires knowing a lot about one area).

You might try dusting off notes from class if you still have them, give you a refresher on all those ‘other than accounting' courses.

    Ninja + Wiley Test Bank: [FAR - 81] [REG - 76] [BEC - 88] [AUD - 73](doh!)

    Becker Videos: [AUD - 82]

I always treated each exam as if it were the hardest. I realize that FAR and REG were probably the toughest with the amount of material, but I put just as much effort into AUD and BEC as I did with FAR and REG. It's just not worth cutting yourself short thinking one exam is easier than another.

If you end up taking more time to study but come out with a passing score, that's infinitely better than studying less for an exam and failing.

Good luck with BEC. It definitely has some weird concepts. It's like the AICPA just took all remaining accounting concepts that didn't fit into the other 3 exams and called it “BEC”. lol.

    FAR: 87
    AUD: 86
    BEC: 86
    REG: 84! Officially Done!

Are you using Becker? The first time I went through the lectures, it was like getting hit in the face with a 2×4. I had no clue what they were saying. I had heard all the terminology before, and had taken an intro to managerial accounting class a couple years ago, but it took going through the lecture twice for me before things started to make sense. I listened to the lecture, hobbled through the homework (it gets easier after B2), and then re-listened to the lecture. It was at that point that I had refamiliarized myself enough with terminology that I could start to listen to it in terms of concepts rather than in terms of “I don't even remember what they're talking about.”

BEC was tough, and I never felt fully prepared for it. That said, it does get better your second or third time through.

    REG- 53, 91
    BEC- 88
    FAR- 62, 85
    AUD- 85

    Ethics- 93

Same here. I left BEC as my last one because everyone said it was the easiest. I don't actually find it easy. It is definitely shorter and more manageable than FAR and REG, but the first two chapters are so exhausting….. So far, after taking 3 exams, I feel like AUD was the easiest for me – short and logical…. There is no logic with BEC – just plain math and memorization of formulas…

    FAR 7/10/2012 - 93
    AUD 08/28/2012 - 93
    REG 10/16/2012 - 93
    BEC 11/26/2012 - 88
    ETHICS 12/01/2012 - 93
    Done!!!!!!!!

My experience is that the exam is much easier than BECKER's simulation.

    FAR 79 AUG2012
    BEC 85 AUG2012
    AUD 78 NOV2012
    REG 74,71,77 MAY2013

    Thanks for the feedback.

I am using Becker and have gotten through all the material, but to me the FAR material is more logical and easier to understand. I had my issues here and there with FAR going through the material, but a lot of it is familiar territory from work experience. Not a fan of the BEC concepts at all. The only chapter i really dont mind is the economics

What is easy for one person, is the bane of another's existence. For me, I felt like BEC would be more challenging as I took most of the classes, save Cost Acct, online and basically taught myself. I felt like I had to re-learn most it during my review. The information is dull (in my opinion) so keeping focused was challenging. Cost Accounting was my least favorite accounting class and I made it through without a good understanding of variances. Get through the material, then go back and things will start to make a little more sense. All I know is that I have been tested heavily on subjects I didn't want to be…so focus hard on the things that challenge you.

Thanks CrockPot78. I got through all the material since time was running out and now i am spending my remaining days just doing questions. Things are starting to make a little more sense now, but things like the variances and equivalent units are just frustrating me.

keep working those variance problems. I found the “old” way I learned was better than what was in my study materials.

    AQ*AP – AQ*SP – SQ*SP and drill down from there.

Beavis, I tried learning Equivalent Units of production from becker and I find it was so difficult. Cindy Simpson from Wiley, teaches it the best I think!! She teaches you EUP using weighted average then with one additional step, you'll find the number using FIFO method. Just my opinion.

    BEC 10/13 PASSED 77
    AUD 04/12 PASSED 83
    FAR 08/12 PASSED 76
    REG 02/13 PASSED 76

Licensed in PA on 12/23/13. Yea boy!!
