Back to the nightmare.

Just started restudying for the beast that is FAR. I took the exam in August and failed with a 62. Since then, I have passed audit and just took BEC last week. I am through chapter 1 mcq and took notes of the chapter and questions I got wrong. I also have the ninja notes and ninja audio. I really really really want to pass it the second time around because failing it was such a demotivator that I really just wanted to give up so was shocked I passed audit.

Please give me any suggestions or advice you have for restudying this nightmare! Especially, if you failed it in the 60’s and passed the next time you took it. What was the approach you used to bump your score? Should I stop taking my own notes and just re-write ninja notes and add any thing I feel is missing?

i just found out i got a 72 on FAR, my plan of restudying so far is rewriting the NINJA notes (which i did not do the first time), and i also just got the wiley test bank in addition to cpaexcel which i used on my first attempt. im hoping the extra materials will give me the extra boost this time, i havent decided on a retake date yet but i suspect that sims was what hurt me as i felt ok with the mcq's. i guess i'll know for sure when i get my score report…

I just wanted to say congrats on your audit pass! I know first hand what you are going through. I just found out I didn't pass far again 72 and 74. I'm going to keep working on bec and then jump back to far maybe do a little far here and there while I study for bec. I would really just like 1 passing score to brag about at this point. Good luck to us!

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

I wanted to share what I did to go from a 60 to a 76 on FAR :

After completing a section of MCQs, I went through EVERY question and wrote notes on the question itself, the solution, and why the other solutions were wrong.

I also grouped these notes together, based on section and specific topic (ex: PPE depreciation)

After doing this for all available MCQs, I rewrote each sections notes (including NINJA Notes) on a legal pad (about 1 to 2 sections a day) and numbered each page for review (ex: IIIa, IIIb…)

For the SIMs, I went through EVERY problem and screenshot the actual SIM and the solution and transferred them to a word document which I printed out for review (separate page for each SIM or it tends to get confusing)

This method really helped me (especially the rewriting) to understand the material

    Good Luck πŸ™‚

Back to the nightmare is right! I have taken FAR twice – and failed both times. I have passed the other 3 sections and am now in jeopardy of losing 2 of those if I do not pass FAR this next time. I study with Becker and supp with Wiley and Ninja Notes. My becker is set to expire in 2 weeks. I do not think it is beneficial to watch all the lectures again but would love some advice on a plan of attack. Here is my breakdown:

    Test 1 (69) Test 2 (63)

    Framework Weak Comparable

    F/S Accts Weak Weak

    Specific Trans Weak Weak

    Govt'l Comparable Stronger

    Not-For-Profit Stronger Comparable

I can tell you right off why my test decreased so much. My time management was great through the MC sections and I left myself with 1.5 hours for the SIMS but spent WAAYYY too much time on 2 of them and actually ended up leaving 2 completely blank – and rushed through the Research question and know I missed that. I beat myself up over time mgmt for several days and know that will not happen again. So my score decreased but my breakdown was slightly better the second time. However, I am still Weak on 2 of the largest % sections.

Anyone have any advice on the best way to study going fwd and what to do when Becker runs out in 2 weeks? I need to nail this test to avoid losing credits on AUD and REG. I am going to kill FAR next time around – but would love all advice on how to do that.

    AUD Passed,84
    REG Passed,84
    BEC Passed,77
    FAR 69,63,84!!
