AUD: testlets didn't seem to get harder

So, I took AUD (my first exam) on the 30th, and since then I haven’t been able to kick the fact that I couldn’t tell whether the questions were getting easier or harder. I mean I did 100s of questions from the Gleim test prep software before sitting for exam, and the lowest I got an a set 100 was 92%. So, I feel like I was prepared. Also, while preparing I never really noticed much difference in difficulty between questions, so I am not if I would notice if they were more difficult.

My question is, what makes a question harder (the length, material tested, whatever) and did anyone else find it hard to tell whether test was getting more difficulty

Don't worry about it. Just wait for the score.

I felt the same way. Actually I pretty much breezed through the questions. By the time I was done I still had a little under 1hr 20 min to go. So now I'm nervous that maybe I went through it too quickly and i may have missed something.

Did you find the questions tricky at all?

Seriously, you don't need to worry about it. I had 2 hours and 30 mins left when I pushed the finish button for the second sim. If you know it, you know it.

    AUD: 95 (7/14/10)
    REG: 94 (7/22/10)
    BEC: 87 (7/29/10)
    FAR: 95 (8/12/10)

    geaux11,

Same here, I finished with about 2.5 hours remaining in AUD.

Also, I did not notice any testlets getting harder.

Yeah, I noticed no change in difficulty throughout my exams.

Thanks guys! I turn into such a worrywart sometimes. After breezing through the first testlet I purposefully tried to take my time and on the sims I just sat there for awhile clicking through the tabs. Such a drastic change from rushing through FAR.

I had 1.5 remaining when I finished Audit exam. My testlets kept getting difficult by the way. If you read score FAQ on CPA-EXAM.org it tells you that when you perform better on one testlet, the next one is more difficult and so on. The difficult a question is, the more scoring weight it carries.

    Hope this helps.

While the exam is progressive, we are saying that we did not notice any change in difficulty. As you can see by my score, my testlets definitely got more difficult, but I did not notice it at all. We don't think that people should worry about this aspect of the exam. Takes away concentration. And could cost you important points.

    PJ,

That's true, but “difficult” is subjective. If you know the material very well, you'll breeze through a “difficult” testlet.

I never payed attention to testlet difficulty. Maybe it is the horrendous ADD =P. On all of my exams I looked at each question completely seperate of all the other questions. I would have a hard time telling you if the last question was harder than the one before it. It has worked well for me, it keeps your mind free to solve the current question, instead of keeping some sort of internal stats.
