AUD Study Question

I just got a 74 on AUD (my final part). I used Becker and thought it was pretty good. I felt good both going into and coming out of the exam, however I didn’t get my desired result. I will be retaking in January before the start of tax season. Can anyone suggest any supplement to the Becker material that will hopefully get me over the hump?

    Thanks in advance!

Did you ever take an Auditing class in school? Maybe you can use the study material from the class. Or you can always read the book again and do more progress test. What were you bad on SIMS, MCQ?

Yes, I took auditing, but that was in my senior year in college in 2007. I'm not sure if the text I used back then would be as useful to me today.

As for the exam itself, I didn't get the progress score in the mail yet that lists where my weaknesses were, but if I had to guess I would say it was on the sims.

After my 2nd AUD fail I bought Jeffs ninja notes, followed his recommendations to the “T” about MCQ's and writing and rewriting my notes. I did an OBSCENE amount of MCQ'S (1100 the weekend before my exam alone) and it paid off in dividends!

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

If it was the Sims you had trouble with then it's probably nothing you could done except use the research database. Luck is a big part. I say go do everything over again and possibly buy new software to get more questions because you probably remember all the questions you worked on already.

Thank you MLA! I will look into purchasing the ninja notes.

Jack, I got a couple of sims that came out of left field. I tried to use the research tab as best as I could. If I feel as though I memorized the Becker questions during the next few days, then I will definitely look into purchasing some new test banks, possibly Wiley,

I have to second what Jack said about luck. I had insanely difficult sims, completely out of left field, for which the research tab was useless. If I hadn't absolutely killed the MCQs, there's no way I would have passed. Maybe next time you'll get lucky with Sims, if you've drilled the MCQs into your brain.

    AUD - 88
    FAR - 90
    REG - 85
    BEC - 88

Same as Katie's, I had 2 extremely hard SIMs, and the research tab did nothing for me. Other SIMs I did not need research tab. But I guess one of the very hard SIMs I got is a pretest one.

Katie: The MCQs get 60%, so you should have done pretty well on the SIMs too to get 88

I do think if you have enough time, the research tab could help.

BTW, I used Becker only, I got the best from doing MCQs while I studied.

    BEC 85

    FAR 80

    REG 81

    AUD 90 – DONE!

@JRL: Thanks! best of luck to you. I'm sure you'll make it next time. 74 is so close! that's frustrating it's just 1 point!

BTW, I only use Becker self-study DVDs. No book, no final reviews, no flash card. Why pay more!! I think if you drill on MCQs on the DVDs, you'll remember the concepts.
