So, I failed AUD.. 64. This time I went through the whole becker review and final review. I was making significantly higher on all of the 100 question tests (probably avg around 92) than the first AUD exam which I made a 70. I know that the problem is not becker but me. I think that I was to comfortable with beckers questions and I might need something new to study from. Does anybody have any suggestions on some new test materials. Please keep in mind that this thread is not intended to slander becker. I have passed the first time with decent grades using becker. I just need suggestions on some new material since I feel I may have some of the becker questions memorized.

    Thanks

It might be all you need. If you really want to make sure you don't have to sit again, and money isn't an issue, why don't you get some other hefty course, like Yaeger or Bisk or Roger? Jeff's Ninja stuff gets good reviews too and is cheaper.

I feel for you. I have to say AUD was about 50% harder than my FAR was and I was more prepared, and you can see how the scores fell out for me. Sometimes there's just no knowing how it will work out.

    AUD - 88
    FAR - 90
    REG - 85
    BEC - 88

Hawkmate, Get the ninja notes and the wiley test bank. The test bank will give you lots of new questions. I failed audit twice with Becker (and like you had passed on a first try with Becker on another exam so no slander here. I think you need more than just them for Audit.

I agree with Katie and bnrhilton. I would add I used Becker my first two times and didn't pass. I used the Roger cram and that made a huge difference. For me, it filled in alot of holes. I was surprised to have so many light bulb moments. I feel for you, Audit was tough for me to pass.

Keep it up, you will get there. Good luck!

Have you ever just tried to read the standards? not go through everything, but going through the index to kind of get a feel how everything fits together?

I know this may seem a silly suggestion, but knowing your way around these will go a very long way, especially with the sims. You can pick up points in topics that Becker doesn't cover by knowing your way around these.

Wiley Sims are excellent, and they teach you how to approach SIMS.

I did Becker too, and chose NOT to memorize any of the mnemonics. If it stuck first time round great. If it didn't, I didn't bother going back. It's one thing to know the questions, its another thing to understand the concept. Don't take your failure as needing to “do more questions”. Take it as needing to understand the concepts a little more.

As for the MCQ's – I did Wiley MCQ's. They were taking me a very long time to “do” as in read the question then deduce what the answer is. The way WIley has the answers, the first line tells you what the question was asking.

So for MCQ's, listen to Becker lecture, do the home work for the section then read the Wiley answers.

When you are in the revising stage redo Becker, and do Wiley again.

The simplicity of the CPAreviewforfree questions was the closest to what I saw in the exams, so use those as your “final test” rather than Becker.

    Hope this helped

Tell me about it. I will take my exam in a few days. I have studied so much of AUD and not sure if I ever want to become an auditor once I finish the exam. Anyhow, I think you need to get another testing bank and practice as many times as you can. I could have taken the exam earlier in this testing window. However, I failed it couple times before and I know I need a lot of “safty margin to pass.” You also need to review your notes, the book you use to make sure your core concept is good and sharp. What do I mean “sharp”? During my study for this round of exam, I can't believe how fast I forgot the material I just studied. So you have to review the material on the daily basis besides doing a lot of MCQs. Also, during my practice on MCQs, I noticed that I tend to pick one answer without finishing read the rest of the answers. It is very dangerious since you might lose more points. So read the questions and answer more patiently. Hopefully my strategy will work this time. Good luck for your next exam. All the hard work will pay off. Sometimes we just have to work harder this time.

I'm with you Hawkmante…2 tries, not close at all. I've got to completely re-do my study approach apparently. Unfortunately, REG and FAR stand in the way before I can go back and figure this out.

    Starting all over.

    FAR - 11/27/13
    AUD - 1/4/14
