Aud notes with Yaeger

I just started studying for AUD by watching the yaeger videos and taking notes. I am having a problem trying to take notes on Gary’s lectures though. So far, it seems like he skips a lot of important info while going through the chapters, so I feel like I need to stop the video for long periods of time to write down more info. that he didn’t cover. Am I wasting my time? I just want to be as prepared as possible. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks Jeff, but I already have the full set of AUD NINJA notes. Sorry, if you mentioned this elsewhere, but are suggesting that I not take my own notes from the lectures, instead just follow along with the ninja notes? That would be less headache for sure, but would that hinder my studying effectiveness to not be taking intense notes from scratch?

I used Yaeger for Audit too. First two chapters I thought I am never going to finish this!! But I stuck with it, paused a lot and wrote down notes. Somehow I managed to pass this section first time. Miracle? I didn't go back and read the book and strictly watched the lecture and took a ton of notes and did all the assigned homework. The one additional thing I did was to buy was the audio to accompany it and repeatedly took notes while listening to the audio. If I had to do it today, I would buy the NINJA audio instead to supplement…wasn't a choice at the time. I would also supplement with the Wiley test bank and make flash cards.

@tjones43….just saw your other posts. I would take intense notes for sure and just use the NINJA notes to supplement. Like if you get confused on a question and can't answer with your notes, use NINJA. I also rewrote all my notes AND the NINJA notes…not for the AUD section but for the other sections. Maybe too much but that is how I learn so it works for me.

Gotcha – don't worry about taking notes then … just re-write the NINJA notes since you have them.

Printing out the ninja notes and writing what Gary says in the margins here and there might be a good alternative.

2 things that helped me with Audit…

    1. You have got to read the book. Gary is good and hits all the key points, but you need to read the modules to fill in the gaps. I would listen to the lectures, read the book and then listen to the lectures again.

    2. I feel that logical thinking is critical to passing Audit. Yes, it's important for other sections but you just can't possibly memorize all of the info. What I did was to do all MCQ's at least twice in both the Wiley book and the testbank. I kept track of my answers and any that I got wrong both times, I spent extra time reviewing why I chose the answer I did and how I needed to approach that question differently the next time.

    Good luck!

Well – normally I would agree, but the poster is saying that Gary is hard to take notes from 🙂

Well I don't mind doing the work if that is the best thing to do. I just didn't want to be wasting my time by taking notes over things he didn't specifically go over (sometimes he just reads the title of the section and says “see those bullet points” then moves on…lol). I am just trying to balance the work hard/work smart tight rope. Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will keep pausing and writing, then rewrite the ninja notes. I appreciate the help!
