Yeah, I really can't think of a single topic worse to skip than government/not for profit. They're huge exam topics, many (most?) people never took govt/NFP in school so it's ENTIRELY unfamiliar, AND they are really, really easy, basic questions for the most part (in my opinion, anyways). They're easy and basic but designed to trick people who don't know anything about governmental accounting into picking the “logical” answer, which corresponds to “normal” accounting but not to governmental. Skipping bonds is probably worse?
Anyways, I skipped partnerships, not because I thought it was difficult or anything, but just because CPAexcel didn't cover it. I don't know why they don't cover it. It's not on the AICPA CSO for FAR, but I'm sure I've seen people say they've had partnership questions even though it wasn't on the CSO. I tried to teach it to myself using an old textbook and just power through test bank questions but I gave up and dedicated myself to more…substantial topics I actually had a shot at.
