Mississippi CPA Exam Requirements
Mississippi State Board generally requires an accounting concentration in order to sit for the examination, with 48 semester hours of upper division or graduate classes in accounting and general business.
Please also note that only local residents are granted CPA license in this state.
Mississippi CPA Exam Requirements
1. Education Requirements To Sit For The Exam:
■Bachelor degree or above with accounting concentration
■150 semester units from an accredited university or educational institution
■Accounting courses: 24 semester units, including 3 units for each of: ■Financial Accounting
■Auditing
■Taxation
■Management Accounting
■Government/Not for Profit Accounting
■Other general business courses: 24 semester units
■All units have to be gained from upper division (i.e. junior/senior year) or graduate courses.
2. Additional Requirements To Get CPA License:
Work Experience:
■1 years of relevant work experience, supervised and verified by a CPA licensee
■License application should be submitted within 5 years of passing of the CPA exam
Ethics Qualification:
■Passing of the CPA Ethics Exam administered by the AICPA
3. Residency & Age Requirements:
■US citizenship not required
■Candidate must be a resident or “have a place for regular transaction of business within this state”.
■Minimum age: 18
4. Fees:
■First-timers: $784.51 (4 CPA exam fees) + $150 (initial application fee, depending on the number of sections) = $934.51
■Repeaters: exam fees + $75-135 repeat application fees
