Any tips to avoid getting burnt out? I had no problem with my previous sections because I would only study a couple hours a day. There is a lot of material in FAR and my brain is overloaded. Can’t really afford to take the “leisurely pace” I did with the other sections.

Nick, did you read above? lol and i fully concur with everything garion said!! plus what I said above. I was pulling my hair out came review time and during 2-7 & 10.

I was not at all comfortable with bonds/leases (because by the time i got good at it, moved on to other chapters, then forgot how it made “sense” later when i came back to review it again) and turned out ok thank God i think because I got really good sims………..hence, know your JEs, don't memorize just understand them (for gov & nfp also) and know statement of cash flows well!

I am on R4 where it's all about “basis” but it seems i've gotten most of them correct… and I am so glad I got FAR done before REG. Not so happy about failing AUD, but oh wells.

    BEC - 81 4/08/14
    FAR - 80 8/25/14 Thank you Jesus!
    REG - 69 (Nov 14),80 1/08/15 Thank God!
    AUD - 70 (May 14), xx 5/1/15

I definitely wish I was one of those people who got all 4 exams done in 4 months, but unfortunately LIFE (being a newlywed, stress, adjusting to newlywed life and cpa exam study life, as well as starting a job with a Big4 which I am very happy about) got in the way, just happy that I am passing period!!

Instead of doing final exam 2 in becker (i scored a 56 on the first one, two days before exam, and got really discouraged) i decided to spend my last day going over flashcards and JEs.

If that is your biggest regret after passing three of four… It's a small regret. Congrats in the progress… Looks like you have some cushion to take your time to nail FAR and be done with this beast.

I highly disagree with Nick..65-75% is no where near reality, you need to know your business law..remember what the aicpA say, 60% tax and 40% business law..40% of the exam are sims which are expected to be mainly tax..so your 60% tax is down to 20%..do the math and you'll know how much business law you should expect to see on your mcq 🙂

    FAR - 71, 68, 74, (8/31/14) 78 ✔
    REG - 67, 71, 71, (10/18/14) 78 ✔
    BEC - (11/29/14) 86 ✔
    AUD - 73, (4/4/15) 86 ✔

I can't believe this is over! 2 years and 3 months..

Lol not at all, @CPA Soon. Sorry. SIMs are all tax and the MCQ is heavy on basis. Really heavy.

I read in another post that business law was heavily tested vs. tax. The examiners like to change it up often don't forget that… there are many versions of the exam out there. When I took far there was barely any IFRS GOV/NFP questions even though many people said that was the majority of their test. So it all depends on luck you can get an exam with a lot of business law you never know. So your best bet is to just know it all!! I'm also studying for reg and find it sooooo boring. The material isn't as hard as far in my opinion it's just a lot more to keep organized…above the line/below the line etc. I appreciate the reg feedback from the people who have taken reg.

Yes! Thank you for the REG insight. All the credits and limits and phaseouts get overwhelming! I have basis down though… I think. I hit the backspace on my laptop twice during two different SIMs (R3 and R4) and lost all of the work I had done, so I did them twice. Maybe that will be to my benefit! LOL

Agree with Nick all REG sims are based on Tax and trust me i've taken that exam a couple of times now but I mean don't blow the law part either because your definitely going to get some mcs on that. Other than that i would focus mostly on the tax part. Good luck guys!!!

I hate studying. Studying for my first attempt at AUD was so bad. It was stupid on my part to squander the time and money the way I did. So now I use the score as motivation. funny looking at my becker audit book the second time around and i didn't even high-light any of the pages. but i also see this as a learning opportunity about myself. Personally, I'm doing this because I never really learned what it takes to achieve a goal, like a real life goal. for me this exam means a lot of things. regardless of my bad scores, I see myself changing each day. its helping me develop a certain type of discipline, even at my old age of 35. keep on trucking because America depends on the convoy. toot toot
