Title kind of says it all: Have any of you walked into FAR confident that you can answer anything they throw at you?

I’m about half way through CPA excel’s 239 lessons of FAR (for comparisons sake, the rest have between 117-138) and have about 60 hours of logged study time (probably closer to 70 or 80, as CPA excel doesn’t count certain time spent on the software).

I have been studying 5 days a week for 8-10 hours a day and working about 20 hours during my “weekend” of friday and Saturday.

I decided to take August off from work (waiting tables, no big loss really) because I felt that I was getting behind. So moving forward I will be studying 8-10 hours a day, 7 days a week to wrap up FAR and REG by Aug 31.

Despite being comfortable with the material as I complete it, I can’t help but feel like I will see questions on the test and think “hey, I remember doing this, but not how I did it….” The pile of information possible to be tested is just so incredibly vast… I just don’t know if the material is really sticking or not. It did with AUD and BEC, but those were much smaller tests, in terms of scope.

Does anyone else feel this way? I guess I’m needing some encouragement, as I’m still a couple weeks away from my exam date but I’m already feeling like I’m going to fail…

    C.P.A.

Beach Girl: Our surgeries are the same although I get to keep one important piece. Why is your surgeon taking both instead of one? Have you asked if you can keep one so that menopause happens naturally? I would fight to keep one unless it was a life threatening situation. It's your body and life so don't take the docs tells you at point blank.

I don't know how old you are but I am 46 and I have two grown children. They were wonderful blessings but honestly the pregnancy/birth experience I could've lived my whole life without. Don't let your mind build that up to be some sort of fantasy now that it is not an option for you. I am not saying that it is not important and I am not saying that you shouldn't mourn the loss of your ability to have children naturally but just don't let your mind make a monster out of it. With that said, I have several friends that adopted and they feel like those children were absolutely meant to be in their family. Don't rule out adoption. I am sure that when you are mentally and physically healed and ready, the perfect child will find it's way into your life and you will be the best mother ever. Mothering is built in…it does not come as a result of pain.

    So do not despair.

And to keep this on topic: FAR sucks and I am stuck in bond hell all weekend. Then I am going to re-study governmental and non-profit! The count down continues. Prometric troll should be shaking in his wee lit'l boots!

BaxterCPA: I am 35. And I know after watching several friends and family members being pregnant, it is not a glamorous thing. A few actually refuse to be pregnant again, and will adopt if they want more children. We have discussed adoption, and foster care. Yes that is hard, but those kids need a good loving home, and we have a home that would provide that. I know there are options. And the right child will be there when the timing is right.

For the ovaries: The short answer is that I want him to. Both have issues. Lots of large polyps, and they have not responded to any treatment yet. I am on a 6 month series of shots that should have shut them down immediately, but they are still working away! I am 5 months into the series. Only 5 % of women have this happen, most end up removing them. And they are not producing the right balance of hormones. The surgeon asked about them, and his comments were, I could try hormone therapy, see if that would reduce the polyps and if not then out in a year. Either way I am looking at hormone therapy and may never be off if it. And I am at an increased risk for cancer.

As for FAR: Inventory and Fixed assets today. I feel pretty comfortable with the topics, so I hope it will be smooth sailing!

Beach Girl – you will over come and you have a whole team of NINJAs cheering for you. One day at a time is all any of us can do. I just found out today that the iron treatments I've been taking did nt get my levels high enough to make it til my surgery in October. Hematologist wants to do two more and I just dont see how I can do that and actually pass FAR in August. They destroy my energy, make all my bones hurt and turn my brain to mush. So I told him no more until after August 10th. It truly sucks when your body won't cooperate with your studying and finishing the journey!! We will prevail… BOTH if us!

    Keep plugging away kiddo!!

well for me, FAR seemed to be the easiest to study for because it is all Financial Accounting, and I generally enjoy doing the work and the problems. It is fun for me, and I like learning about all the GAAP rules. It's like a puzzle or a game to play.

I can't really get into to reg because of sections on Law, which i find to be boring and sometimes confusing.

    FAR 78
    REG 87
    BEC 78
    AUD 78
Passed all exams on first try! Good luck to everyone!

FAR – 2 weeks from today. So much information running through my head. Just cranking through MCQs.

It's just one of those things where you walk in and you probably never feel like you mastered everything, but try to be generally knowledgeable about everything, right? — i.e. distinguish wrong answers from right and get down to 50/50 if necessary.

Geez this thing is a monster.

    @Bobcat:

Good luck man, I hope you knock it out of the park. Quite frankly, I feel like the month-long cram session I'm about to embark on, will be the only hope I have of passing FAR. I allotted tons of study time (3 months worth), but I have completely forgotten all of it! Ugh!

    BEC (2/28/16) ----- 78
    FAR (09/10/16)-----
    AUD
    REG

I found with FAR it's just important to know the big topics front and back. You have weaknesses that are not in the top few topics by % tested? Memorize and hope for the best. Accept that you will have some weaknesses walking in, because everybody does, especially with FAR. Most of all keep your confidence. Good luck guys!
