Started studying for FAR today and hope to take it the 2nd week of October. This is my first time taking FAR and I have the Becker materials.

    1. I have an hour drive to and from work everyday so I listen to the lectures while driving (I literally have my laptop open and I plug in headphones).

    2. I read the text while working out (eliptical) in the morning and afternoon about 2 hours per day (the CPA causes me to do wierd things)

    3. I run through the homework questions throughout the day at work when I get free time.

    4. Plan to memorize every single flashcard throughout the study period.

    5. The week before the test I plan to uses Becker’s final review and purchase Wiley’s test bank.

    ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS?

sounds good but I think I'd get speakers for the laptop, at least in MA it is illegal to drive with headphones on, and dangerous at the very least!

I only put one of the ear buds in my ear so that I can still hear people honking while I'm in the “FAR zone”

Another option would be to transfer the recordings to an MP3 player and plug into your car speakers with an AUX cord.

I attempted to copy the files from the CD to my computer and use my ipod, but it wouldn't work for me. Is there another way to do that?

On a side note, how the heck did you pass all those exams in 6 weeks….?!?!?!

It's been a while since I loaded any CD's onto my computer using itunes to transfer to my ipod. However, I have this vague recollection that it was somewhat cumbersome and that it took me a few tries before I was successful because I kept leaving out a step.

I've posted about this before, but I'll give you the short version. I had reasons for wanting to get this done as quickly as was possible. I didn't have a job or young children so I could study full time. When preparing for FAR I figured out which study techniques were most effective for me. Therefore, I didn't have much wasted time when preparing for the other 3. During the last 6 weeks I studied for 10-14 hours per day every day. I'm able to focus for longer than average so I could study effectively for this length of time by taking a few very brief breaks during the day. I'm also a very good test taker so I didn't have issues with test anxiety. I studied as hard as I could but would have been in better shape if I'd had a few more days, especially with REG. However, I was prepared enough to have a decent chance of passing.

I studied entirely from text (Becker and Wiley) and the Wiley test bank so I didn't do anything with CD's for the exams. When I mentioned having transferred CD's in my previous post I was referring to music CD's that I transferred to itunes and my ipod a few years ago. I've only purchased music online since so I don't remember all the steps. Your best bet would probably be to research online or contact Becker.

Your pushing too much into too little time, you'll end up either A). burning yourself out (which I did, towards the end I couldn't study but I still passed) or B). learning too much useless information that you won't need for the test. The program you want to use is AoA audio extracter, it extracts the audio from any video file on your computer and puts it into MP3 format which, I think it might work off the dvds too.
