I am very familar with them and wouldn’t have a promblem on MCQs, but the SIMS scare me. I’ve written down the major ones, but I get the feeling that won’t be enough. Would the best way to master them be by practicing SIMS over and over again? Or MCQs? Any advice is appreciated.

Last time I took FAR, I went through and wrote down all of the major JE's.. I only wrote them out that one time. Once I was in the actual exam, and they were asking for 10 entries at a time, I froze and really couldn't remember how to work them. So my plan of attack this time.. Going through each chapter in the book, as I write out the JE I really read through the example and make sure I understand what each account is affected. My goal is to rewrite the JE's at least twice before next Monday (my exam). I might only be able to once, but I understand them a lot more since I went through them slowly the first time.

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

Becker told me to study one mnemonic for a je for a certain topic that I memorized. It happened to come up on the test. The rest I just relied on my past experience.

    Bec 4/11/11 91
    Aud 7/11/11 75
    Reg 8/31/11 80
    Far 5/24/11 86

What worked for me specifically for the sims was creating a T Account template in word using the tables and writing out the entries in T account form. It was somewhat time consuming but it really helped understand the diff's in all the methods to account for certain transactions. Especially cause I'm a visual learner.

Disclaimer ..I didnt pass, but got a 74 and stronger on Sims. &I'd also suggest you look over the statements as it's never just j/e's.

    Good luck.

If you really want to get good at J/E's buy the FAR wiley book. A lot of the sims deal with journal entries and doing them is good practice.
