Check out NASBA’s latest Facebook posting about how you can buy for only $120 the 2011 CPA performance statistics of CPA candidates. NASBA has a lot of nerve to sell this publication. What a complete joke. It’s not enough the CPA exam is incredibly difficult for even the most prepared of candidates who literally study all day long for several months and still fail exams. It’s not enough that NASBA charges overpriced NTS and Applications fees. Now they want to rub it in even more by selling those exam statistics to anyone who wants to buy it for $120. Gee, let me think about that one NASBA..Is there gold in them there books? What fools do they take us for? This is an insult.

LOL. Why would you possibly let that get you worked up? Who cares?

Also, the NTS fees really are not all that unreasonable when you consider the time to process, the prometric center fees, NASBA's customer service requirements, etc. All of that costs money.

Hmm $120, very interesting. Does that come with a foot massage?

The Prometric Center I go to pays their 2 employees a whopping $10 an hour. The manager gets $12 an hour. There's only one manager and one employee working the entire office during a shift. Meanwhile I just paid $500 for two NTS sheets. If the money is not an issue, then I'm happy for you. Also, as far as I know, the test is computerized, not hand graded. Prometric can't even keep the room temperatures in a comfortable range when there's 20+ candidates in the same room. The employees aren't even allowed to adjust the temperature in their own building. All I'm saying is that complacency and closing our eyes isn't going to solve anything. People should be aware of these things. Forewarned, forearmed; to be prepared is half the victory.

The reason the publication is $120 is because there's a secret CD disc inside the NASBA publication with all the answers to all 4 sections of the CPA exam. NASBA knows that no candidates will ever buy the publication for $120, so therefore we have the continuance of a 45% passing rate.

I don't think the candidates are the target customer base here, more like schools, review programs and people like Jeff who might be able to use these statistics as a marketing tool. And if the information purchased is to lure candidates to a particular school or review program they should have to pay a decent fee for the information.

It's a free market – if no one buys it, no one buys it. I'm sure it took quite a few man hours to compile it and make it worth reading. Just my take though.
