AICPA dues

The AICPA just sent my dues notice. Perfect timing, AICPA. Being as that I am impatiently waiting for a release of my grade, the last thing I want to do is give one more dime to such an inefficient operation.

If I didn’t think that writing “SUCK IT, AICPA” in big black letters across my renewal form wouldn’t somehow affect my grade, I’d do it. You just never know what factors may go into the mystery curve.

I have no idea if I'm part of AICPA. I never paid anything to anyone, not even my State Acct Board.

Actually I recently gotten a renewal from CAL CPA but told them I will not renew because I am no longer working (they used to pay it for me). Will this get me in trouble??!? Those CAL CPA fees dues sure are expensive!

I believe they have a CPA Candidate membership dues if you are qualified to sit for the exam but have not yet passed all 4 parts.

    FAR 10/30 - 68 Retake Jan
    BEC 11/30
    AUD 2011
    REG 2011

I got a special rate for CPA exam candidate. They send you e-mails and updates on changes in the industry and changes on the exams as well as discounts on CPEs, hotels, etc.

I'm not renewing until I am a CPA!

You don't have to pay dues if you don't join the AICPA. You should only join the AICPA if you need to have it on your resume.

    CPA candidate fee is $50.00

    CPA passed exam is $265.00

    BEC=77, FAR=78, REG=73,74,80, AUD=70,69, 84 DONE!

    CPAWannabe,

This is hopefaith and you responded to my topic, Slow Learning Curve, about a month ago and your response stood out to me because it seems that are learning curves are similar I appreciate your support. I am going to sit for my second FAR exam in November and I have 5 out of 9 chapters studied I am going to forgo studying the supplemental questions and I was wondering how that worked out for you? Is studying the supplemental questions when time is limited necessary or overkill? and do you think that passing the exam is not only about having a “broad” knowledge of the material but how “knowing” how the test works and other strategies to maximize your points earned?

I appreciate your support and I wish you the best with Auditng.

    Hopefaith

    P.S.:

By the way, Screw the AICPA and their stupid fees their just another bureaucratic money pyramid scheme associated with the exam. Best luck

    – your not alone

    hopefaith,

Yes, I remember you. Good to see you still trying. Me too!

Well, whatever advice I gave you, take with a grain of salt because I am not progressing with my FAR studies. In hindsight, I probably should have done the Becker supplemental questions. I am doing them now for AUD.

My advice for people who struggle like me is to do as many mcq as possible because repetition is key to getting things to stick. I understand the concepts fine but being able to see the call of the questions and deciphering the BS you don't need screws with my confidence at tackling the questions.

You have plenty of time to do this. Go to cpaexamreviewforfree.com or wherever you want but keep at it. I'm going to revamp my FAR studies with Yaeger once I'm done with AUD. I need a different approach plus my Becker runs out Tuesday.

My e-mail is allyson1967@bellsouth.net if you want to contact me less publically. A guy on this forum sent me a long e-mail with good advice for strugglers like ourselves and I'll be happy to share it with you. Best of luck to you.

Hey keep trying and don't give up.

I suggest you think about purchasing some used Becker flash cards (prices are about $50 on amazon) I find them to be very helpful especially when I am trying to retain information, but like you said don't stop drilling mcq's.

There is also a good book for you to look at it is entitled: “You Can Pass the CPA Exam, Get Motivated,” by Debra R. Hopkins it has a lot of good info that may be helpful to you, you can pick it up on amazon for cheap.

I am sitting for FAR in November I realistically I think I won't pass until my fourth attempt ( this will be my 2'nd attempt). It is just that I can't learn the concepts fast enough and when I do I forget them easily, but I do learn them, and once I find the key to retention those three letters will follow my name as well as yours.

I wish you best of luck on your journey. God Bless. My email is: rapst3@hotmail.com should you need any further assistance. I also posted another topic and I would be interested in hearing what you have to say, it is entitled: ” How do i perform an effective Final Review?”

Also do you think that it is a good decision to switch to another CPA review materials (Yaeger)? Please let me know how that works out for you

Take care and keep up the fight. God Bless

    hopefaith,

I wish you all the best. Find a strategy and see what fits for your learning style. I am trying Yaeger and starting over (again). With me, repetition will really help. I do have the Becker flashcards and Final Review. They are both extremely helpful.

I will e-mail you as well.
