After Prometric exam crash…I quit…I gave up……

On October 2nd I sat for FAR in Portsmouth, NH. After 3 hours into the exam the computer began running slower and Slower and SLOWER…..finally it was taking too long to even get between questions. Only got 1/2 the first SIM completed with 15 minutes remaining so I started the 2nd SIM. The administrator came out to announce to all students that the server hadn’t been rebooted in 9 days and the system was crashing. She talked to all the test takers (GRE, Praxis, Nursing, etc.) and while she talked…my exam timed out.

Long story short I had to email NASBA customer care regarding the exam and let them look into it….and BEC expires on 11/30.

So after you look at my track record…..I made a decision……what the $#*!’ing hell am I doing this for???

SO I QUIT….I GAVE UP….I’M DONE…I’ve resided myself to the fact that this just isn’t worth it……for the past 2 weeks I’ve enjoyed my weeknights, weekends, etc…….AND IT’S BEEN GREAT!

So why am I here posting this message……..because after that short break……. last Friday (for SOME reason)… I HAD to get back in the game….I got my NTS’ for both AUD (11/13) and REG (11/24) and have begun studying straight out (thank you Yaeger Audio for my commuting time.) I’ll beat these exams and pass this #$%’ing thing if it takes 10 years or I die trying………

SO THE KID IS BACK!!! HELLO AGAIN EVERYBODY!!

Good luck! Better try a different testing center or “interview” them about their computers before your test this time! That is insane! I would have “lost it” after that as well. Glad you are back in the game….Go whoop these exams' tail!

    REG 85 | FAR 85 | AUD 88 | BEC 76!!! DONE!!!!

cpawannabee Welcome back! We will make it! I noticed your age and I am glad that I am not the only “matured ones” here taking this exam 😉 . I am 46 years old and I passed the CPA exam in my country at the age of 20 however, I want to be a CPA here in the US as well although it is kind of late at my age!.Good luck!

    BEC 2/8/10 - 75 (studied hard & prayed less)
REG 5/15/10 - 88 (studied less but prayed hard)
AUDITING 8/9/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard)
FAR 11/30/10 - 79 (studied hard and prayed hard) Thanks GOD! I'm DONE

    cpawannabe,

i began to wonder where you were. I even try looking you up few times to see if you have any new posts. I was worried. There are mostly new kids on this forum. Veterans like us are hard to find. And you changed your picture.

now that you're back please, please, please, take at least 2 exams each window and not let scores expire. You know the material you just need refresh.

FARbehind….you're right…I need to take TWO exams at each testing period. Tax season takes 3 1/2 months out of the 18 month window and I didn't manage my time well. Now I'm paying the price.

CPAWannabe (my counterpart here at another71.com)…..time for a change to the avatar….new beginnings…hit the books new, study new, approach the exams as if it's the first time I've taken them. Forget about the time I've lost over the past 2 years. It's gone…

I applaud the individuals who take 8-10 months out of their lives by taking one or two exam(s) at each testing window and wind up passing each on their first try….

Some people have to do TWICE the work to achieve the results that others can generate with casual effort. I guess I'm one of those people. This exam is going to take me 2 or 3 times as much effort and time than I gave it credit for.

No one to blame but myself……

Hey CPAwannabee, do you think they will give you a score on FAR at all? Or is the test not even going to count?? I see a lot of people who don't complete the sims but still pass! Maybe you will be one of them!!!!!!! 🙂

Congratulations for staying in the game! You will be a CPA if you do not quit and if you revise your study methodology.

May I suggest that you use your old exam scores that are lower than 75 as progress reports. Buy Gleim Online, which also includes Gleim Test Prep. You will be able to work on your weak areas by grouping Gleim's Test Prep chapters into the groups that the AICPA uses (see the back of the AICPA's scores). Additionally, if you need more help on the concepts, Yaeger is the best teaching course for FAR, REG and BEC. I also like Lambers for AUD.

    cpawannabee,

One thing I have learned this time is that I really needed to get out of my comfort zone. Just like when you work out, if you don't notice a change, do something different. Our brains are like muscles too.

I compare studying for FAR to a pyramid cadio work-out: build up to it and get stronger!

(I know you work out a lot and would appreciate this analogy – LOL!)
