The many valuable postings on this forum have helped me tremendously in knowing what to expect for the FAR exam. I just took FAR yesterday (this was my first part) and thought I would share my experience just in case it benefits anyone. I am not sure what my overall feelings are about the exam. Since CPA exam scores are not predictable, I am not making any guesses on whether I will pass or fail (the later will be very very heartbreaking). I used Becker to prepare for FAR and felt that the material adequately prepares you for it. However, the thing that really scares me the most is that the exam heavily tested on some of my weaker areas. So, I am not even sure how much I screwed up. I have to admit that the MCQs were must easier and not as lengthy as the Becker practice MCQs. I want to say that the testlets got slightly harder as the exam progressed, but I don’t think there was a significant difference. The simulations were hard, not to mention that I was running out of time. I did okay on the communications part except that I didn’t know what I was writing about on the 1st one.
There is a likelihood that I failed (but not giving up hope – praying and leaving this up to God). Now I want to start focusing on AUD.
For all those who are waiting for their scores… GOOD LUCK!
For all those who are preparing for FAR… just one word of advice… PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE and do as many MCQs as you can… because that sticks to your head better than reading something 10 times. Also, it eliminates surprises. Good Luck!
Texas: FAR 83 (8/25/10) | AUD 83 (11/22/10) | BEC 78 (2/26/11) | REG 90 (7/9/11)
End of a two-year long CPA exam journey!
