I used Becker the first time I failed FAR with a 63. I went a ahead and bought Yeager homestudy and the Cram. I went through all the questions and practiced with the Wiley test bank, and used Becker for Sims. On my retake I failed again with a 73. Mcq were stronger overall and sims weaker. I walked out of the exam thinking i had done well with sims, but apparently that was not so. If you were me, how would you tackle preparing for FAR again?

@greeneyesCPA supplement your other materials with the Ninja notes. Also, don't study the sims. I passed FAR on my second try and didn't study one sim. The chances that you are going to get the same exact sim that you practiced are slim to none.

all I know is I'm in the exact same boat as you greeneyes. I used Becker self study course and final review first time and failed with a 66. Used it again 2nd time as well as a live final review and got a 73. So, for this third time I'm looking for a different CRAM course to supplement. Yeager demo video looked horribly boring so, I don't think I'm going with that. Roger seemed pretty entertaining so I may purchase that. I have the ninja notes and wiley test bank but haven't really put them to good use because they're so different than Becker but hey maybe something different is what I need.

I just took the FAR exam using Yaeger- I think I totally bombed it, but I would say to keep studying the same way you did before – 73 is not far off from 75!

    FAR 61, 82! ( 11/9/12)
    AUD 67, (4/19/13) WAITING!!

RogerCPA has been great for me. I took FAR first and I just studied really hard…probably 200 hours of study for that test alone. I also “passively studied”…I would practice amortizing bonds in my head in the car…create my own lease situations and determine if they are operating/capital leases…practice sales/leasebacks, inventory, etc.

I think the best way to beat CPA exam questions is practice writing your own. Read all of Wiley. Develop a list of your own questions, teach/tutor others, etc. Know where the pitfalls on the questions are. I found that by reading question after question written by the AICPA, I am able to find there little ‘tricks' written into the question…it's not fail-proof, but it really helped my figure out most of them.

Also, practicing Wiley questions helped me feel like I was swinging three baseball bats – then when I stepped to the plate hitting them seemed pretty easy.
