Now that I’m done with FAR, just thought I would share the acronym I used to remember the direct method of presenting the statement of cash flows:
I pay CASH for TIES with DOTS.
CASH – Cash collected from customers
T – Taxes (income) paid
I – Interest paid/received
E – Cash paid for Employees (SG&A)
S – Cash paid for Suppliers (COGS, Inventory, AP, etc.)
D – Dividends paid
O – Other
TS – Trading Securities (cash paid to acquire/cash received from the sale of)
