About to get back to the grind..

    Well, I have taken almost 4 weeks off of studying after a non-stop study-test grind from September until Jan. I took and passed BEC, took audit twice and reg once and failed all of those then lost my FAR credit.

    I decided to take about a month off, give my brain a rest and regenerate some cells. I started a workout challenge, lost five pounds and now I feel ready to get back into the swing of things. I am going to attempt Audit for the fifth time beginning of April and Reg at the end of May. That gives me 7 weeks for each. Hopefully I can knock them out this time!

    @bnrhilton,

    Kudos to you for taking a break and then getting back on the horse. Sounds like you had an intense 5 months. I am sorry about you losing your FAR credit, that is one big pisser. But the saving grace is that you had done it, so you can do it again. Congrats on losing 5 pounds!! That is a big accomplishment, and one that really put a kick in your step, which I think is mandatory for this CPA journey.

    Audit was really tough for me. I took it 4x. I used the Roger cram and course the last couple of times. I really like him. Previously I had used Becker for the lectures. I like that Roger is upbeat (at this stage in the game, any umph is definitely appreciated!) and that he was an auditor back in the day. He was really informative and tied up all the loose ends. I also used two testbanks: Becker and Wiley.

    I think 7 weeks for each is a great plan. Best of luck to you…and keep pushing through! It is such a grueling process, but will be well worth it in the end. (At least that is what I hear!!). Thanks for sharing your story, I think it is inspiring and motivating, something we all need during this .

    Take care!

    @yankee, I used Becker first two times I took audit, Yaeger second two times, this last time I through in Roger Cram, I am also using the Wiley Test bank and I printed all the mcq's from becker before it expired. I know the material, my problem was the sims. This last one was a killer and I think that since I spent all my time working on mcq's and really learning theory and hardly no time on sims that even though I knew the material pretty well, I didn't have a good understanding of applying it to the sims that showed up on my exam. They weren't ones that I was able to use the research very well to help answer them. The third time I took audit I was able to use the research and answer them. You never know with these exams!

    I think 7 weeks will be good. I actually have almost 8 weeks for REG.

    I totally agree the sims are the X factor. I blew my sims the second and third time. They word them so awkwardly that it is hard to tell what they are asking. Funny, because I didn't study the sims much for BEC and FAR per the advice of people on the forum, but with REG and Audit I studied them like crazy because people were saying how crazy they were and didn't pass. This last time with Audit, I reviewed maybe 10 sims and that was it. I focused mostly on the mcq's. I am not having much time to review sims this time with REG either, so I have no idea how that will play out. I do think the sims are a big roll of the dice. But knowing that can make all the difference.

    Good luck!!
