A Twist on my FAR Exam…..2/24

So, I took FAR on Friday 2/24.

I absolutely nailed the MCQs, Medium, Hard, Hard.

So at that point, I’m feeling good going in to the Sims.

And then on the Sims, wow, I didn’t answer a single Simulation thinking, “Yep, got that one right.”

It goes without saying that there’s not a review course that exists that can prepare you for the Sims.

My question is, and a little spin on this one compared to most questions:

How many of you have taken FAR, felt like they nailed the MCQs, and felt like they bombed the Sims, and wound up with a FAILING score? We see on here all the time, “I thought I bombed, then I passed.” I want to know who had the same experience as me (Great on MCQs, Bad on Sims) and how they did. Thanks!

Sounds like you did pretty good. I'm taking it on Monday and I'm having a mental breakdown..I literally feel like I've forgotten everything, and that I'm about to throw up…lol

Well I had the same experience with REG. I knew I nailed the MCQ and the SIMS I didn't know a single one of them. I ended up answering the research question (which I don't think was right), made up some random answers on 2 of them, and left 2 blank. I knew there was no way I passed since they were 40% but somehow I did so it can be done even without doing good on SIMS i guess! I take FAR on 2/29…good luck on passing!

Were the topics for the SIMs abstract or were the questions just that hard?

Any insight on general areas to focus on would be greatly appreciated! (without going into detail about exact questions…)

    BEC (October 2011) - 86
    REG (January 2012) - 89
    FAR (February 2012) - 89
    AUD (April 2012)

OK- so I'm totally in the same boat- I felt good after finishing MCQ's and then hit the SIMS- they were ridiculous! I couldn't answer two and totally made up another : ( I'm seeing a common thread where people are having the same issues.

Wiley and Yaeger totally do not prepare you for the difficulty level of the SIMS, but in my case, Wiley didn't even have SIMS for the topics that I was being tested on – on the exam! I really felt like I failed miserably, but after reading all these posts, I might have not failed- fingers crossed…

    FAR 61, 82! ( 11/9/12)
    AUD 67, (4/19/13) WAITING!!

That is exactly what happened to me last testing window… got my score report back and scored stronger on the MC and weaker on the Sims. Why do they have to make Financial Sims so hard? I used Becker exclusively last time and I'm using Wiley this time… so hopefully that will help!

I took FAR this morning. It was my first section and I used Becker. The MC was on average, pretty difficult, especially my 2nd testlet (which I know I didn't do well on- the 3rd got easier). I got to the Sims with plenty of time left (as I had been warned to do) and was surprised when I knew how to answer most of the questions. There were a few questions within the individual sims that I didn't know, but I had time to look them up in the authoritative literature to clarify the few doubts I was having.

This kind of worries me. Are the sims predetermined? If they are, then I must've just been extremely lucky bc I've heard so many horror stories. If they're not, then I must've just completely bombed the MC and therefore wound up with easier sims.

Can't believe that's over with. Now all I can do is just sit, and wait; and then sit, and wait some more. Ugh.
