8 weeks for Audit. No Audit Experience

I plan on sitting for Audit at the end of the next window, that is if I pass FAR. My question for those of you who have gone through this is if eight weeks is enough time to hammer in all the material. I plan to have about 200 hours of total study time in those 8 weeks.

I also assume AUD is a different animal than FAR, but I’m starting from zero because I’ve only taken one audit class ever and have no audit experience.

    FAR - Bad Fail '11, Fail '12, Fail '13, PASS It's a miracle!
    AUD - Fail, PASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    BEC - PASS!!!!!!!!
REG - PASS!!!!!!!! And I'm done!

I'm not sure about what other committments you have, but I had 6 weeks to study for AUD and thought that was more than enough time. I also slacked off quite a bit and still managed to get through the materials. I think AUD has been the least time consuming of them all so far because it lacks calculation.

@dukelover3130 do you work in Audit or have Audit experience? Nice score by the way! As far as my commitments, they are typical I guess, two kids, wife, ft job. I follow Jeff's ELL plan and it gives me 4 hours a day to study during the week. On weekends I get an additional 8 hours, so I assumed that I would average 25 hours a week for the 8 weeks I have to study.

I don't currently work in audit, but I had 2 audit internships, but I really don't think that helped me understand anything, mainly because interns don't do that much.

25 hours a week is definitely a good amount of time to get through all of the material. I did not really track my hours, but I got through everything in 4 weeks with probably a max of 4hrs a day during the week and sporadic weekend studying. My last 2 weeks were spent on a semi intense reveiw session of mcqs and reading/going over flashcards.

I think AUD goes by much faster than FAR because you aren't spending hours doing calculations. I spent a lot more time studying for FAR simply because I am slow with calculations, but AUD does not really have any of that so my study time was spent more on reading and going through more mcqs because they were quick.

8 weeks should be MORE than enough time. There isn't as much material comparative to FAR/REG, and for the most part lacks any form of computational work.

    BEC - 83 | AUD - 85 | REG - 77 | FAR - 87

I passed AUD with no experience in 6 weeks (really more like 4 solid weeks.) And I don't have an accounting degree. It's definitely possible, good luck!

    AUD - 84 - 5/31/12 (lost credit), re-take 5/28/14
    REG - 83 - 12/7/12
    BEC - 80 - 2/27/13
    FAR - 69 - 11/30/13, 80 - 2/28/14

Thanks everyone. I'm living FAR right now and need to keep things moving along to meet my goal having tested and passed all four parts by the end of November. Seeing how I was hoping to pass FAR on my 3rd attempt two weeks ago, the fail put a little dent in my plans.

If you are using Becker, I'd say use like a week per section which will give you a little buffer room at the end in case you want to go back over anything..

    FAR - 84
    AUD - 93
    REG - 76

I actually switched from Becker to Yaeger because of FAR and like it much better. It's more flexible for my lifestyle and I hate the fact that the Becker material “expires”. That plus I supplement with everything Jeff has to offer from this site,i.e. flashcard app, audio, ninja notes, Wiley test bank. I ordered the AUD stuff before I took my last FAR attempt.

Aud will be my first section. I just ordered the Roger section of auditing today and will test drive it out. Will sit for it sometime in April and get it done before the new changes happen in July. Honestly, I think it's enough. My best friend did it via Yaeger and put in about 80 hours and passed with a 92. Granted, people will have different experiences.

    AUD: Passed
    BEC: Passed
    REG: Studying

I studied 6 weeks and have zero audit experience. I took one Audit class in college and that was about 6-7 years ago so you could say I started from square one with no background knowledge.

I used Yaeger, NINJA Notes, and the Wiley Test Bank. I spent about 8 days hammering out MCQ's on the test bank and did over 2,000 questions (some repeats of course).

This approach earned me a 92… I was working full time so no question you can do it in 8 weeks.

    Good luck!!!

    FAR - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER)
    AUD - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES)
    BEC - 2012 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES)
    REG - 2013 - PASSED (YAEGER + NINJA NOTES + NINJA AUDIO)

    ETHICS - 2013 - PASSED

DONE!!! Thank you A71 for all the support! Hiya!!!
