7 weeks for FAR, 7 weeks for REG…am I crazy?

    My BEC expires on May 31st and I’m pretty much past the point of procrastinating. I intend to attempt to cram in 7 weeks for FAR, and 7 weeks for REG. Is this a ridiculous plan? It took me about 4weeks to study for both Audit and BEC but I’m good at memorizing words and concepts, while equations and numbers kinda slay me.

    Your thoughts?

    Started the CPA in 2009. Passed BEC and AUD. Got lazy and they expired so I'm back on the ball in 2013.

    B - April 2013 - Passed
    A - May 2013 - 74. ARGH. Dec 6th reschedule.
    R - TBD
    F - TBD

    So help me God!

    @Fed007

    My BEC also expires May 31, and luckily I just got REG completed. So I have one shot at FAR. I don't think your scenario is impossible by any means, just depends on how busy your life is outside of studying. Personally for me there is no way I could do that, because I work 60 hours/week and live on the road M-Th every week.

    Just make sure to pay a little bit extra attention to anything Tax related while studying for FAR. I think this will help you reconcile the differences when you do move on to REG.

    Good luck!

    BEC - 80 (11/30/2010), Lost Credit - Retake 11/30/2012, 80 (FINISHED!)
    AUD - 71 (05/31/2011), 79 (08/28/2011)
    REG - 70 (11/30/2011), 87 (02/09/2012)
    FAR - 61 (5/31/2012), 80 (08/31/2012)

    I think you can do it, but you'll have to be very real with yourself, that it will take basically 3 hours/day every day (maybe take 1 day a week off to clear your head) for the next 7 weeks.

    So, you have to clear everything else out of your schedule: no TV, no movies, no parties, no trips.

    Go to work, study and sleep is all you're allowed until exam day (maybe some food sprinkled in)…then you'll have to do it again for REG.

    It's possible as long as you stay disciplined.

    BEC - 82
    AUD - 65; retake Feb 2013
    FAR - April 2013
    REG - July 2013?

    Thanks for the responses guys. @JdJ, I work a full time and spend quite a bit of time commuting but I could study on the train if I stay consistent. I will be sure to keep an eye out for FAR related stuff. Thanks for the tip.

    @NYCOat: I'm already freaking out thinking about it. I definitely can't do anything too social/take trips till then. My family is coming at the end of MArch, which might be a slight distraction but I may work around that. I really have no choice.

    Thanks guys.

    @Fed007: If you still follow the forums, please let me know how you studied for REG in 7 weeks. I'm about to do the same…

    7 weeks for each should be plenty of time if you study every day and don't F off.

    Bec 4/11/11 91
    Aud 7/11/11 75
    Reg 8/31/11 80
    Far 5/24/11 86

    Because of scheduling concerns I had to squeeze FAR into a 5-week period. 6+ hours a day, 7 days a week. I go to the gym, eat, sleep, and study. Nothing more.

    It would be an understatement to say that I envy your “problem” lol.

    FAR -> 76
    AUD -> 74...Revenge 2/16/13
    REG -> 83
    BEC -> 75

    @makinthemagic: “and don't F off.” That's exactly the problem lol… at least with AUD I think I did OK, but managed to do just that while studying! I tried a different study strategy than usual that was not effective at all for me, and being stubborn I kept up with a horrible strategy and wasted time before getting back on track. That was my fault though!

    You sound like you would be the type of intern that would stay until 10pm fixing problems in the system. I'm sure you can guess who this is.

    Good luck tomorrow. I just took mine today. Know your journal entries and you should be fine!

    FAR - 88
    AUD - 98
    REG - 87
    BEC - 83

    @jincredible As long as there's an opportunity to get a bigger paycheck then I don't mind. Oh, and I enjoy doing what I do =)

    We take auditing on the same day, ain't that something.
