I am using Becker for FAR and I just took my first practice test. There were quit a few questions that I didn’t know, but I thought I was doing okay. I ended up getting a 61.6% average over the MCQs section. I am planning on reviewing the next 2 days, but what do I need to do to get my score up. I feel like I have a broad overview of all the topics, but I don’t know the nitty gritty & all the details that goes with all the subjects. I have done all the MCQs once except for around 100 in supplmental questions & have listened to all the lectures once. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am freaking out.

    BEC 7/20/10 88 (90 hours)
    AUD 8/27/10 73 (65 hours), retake 11/22/10 81 (75 hours)
    FAR 10/28/10 80 (157 hours)
    REG 1/7/10 extended to 1/17/10 78 (130 hours) I'M DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Review each and every question you got wrong on the practice test. Understand why you got them wrong. Re-take the test a couple times and don't just click the answer that you memorized. Work through it and understand why the answer is what it is.

    AUD 96 FAR 95 REG 94 BEC 88

I listen to the lectures, answer the homework MCQ, and the supplemental MCQ. But during my review weeks, I go back and rework my homework MCQ and then do the practice test (progress test) MCQ about 10 times (100 MCQ X 10 times). Then I work the final exams 1 & 2 and review my incorrect answers and write down the answers while learning why I missed them. I also like to read the explanations to the MCQ even when I get them correct to make sure I understand them. Just keep your head up and go back through those MCQs a few times and maybe even check to see which areas you may be weak in so you can go back through the book and review those specific topics (if you have time). Good luck. I take FAR on 10/31!

    REG 85 | FAR 85 | AUD 88 | BEC 76!!! DONE!!!!

definitely agree with the posts above. rework the mcqs and zone in on the questions you got wrong, understand the fundamentals and know how to apply them. yes concentrate on your weak areas as you're tested on pretty much everything on the actual test.

i was scoring 70s a week before the exam and went overboard to get it up to 90s before the actual test.

i hear a lot of ppl who score in the 80s on becker final exam receive 90s on the actual test. best of luck.

    DONE!

You just need to continue working hard regardless of your practice test scores.

I really don't think performance on those practice tests always correlates in a predictable way. For REG I scored in the low 70s from what I remember. I ended up with an 87. BEC I scored around an 82 on one and then a 68 or something. I ended up with an 80.

For FAR I scored a 77 on the first and a 67 on the second. I am not one of those people who screams and cries about how awful I did on a test and then ends up getting a 95, but I legitimately think I may have failed FAR. It wasn't so much the material covered, but the overall stress involved with the test that probably did me in. I can think of about 8 or 9 M/C that I answered wrong without a doubt. Very frustrating. The simulations I completely bombed. This is not an overstatement in any way. I didn't finish the second one and anything I answered in either simulation ended up being wrong in one way or another upon review of the concepts. Hopefully the WC and research points make up for my horrible showing there. I found a post from Jeff that said he thinks they grade sims based on the number of cells you fill in. That would be awesome haha.

Anyway, what I meant to say was that it really depends on what you get test day. You can ace those practice tests over and over but if you get tested on topics you're weaker on, you're in trouble. The opposite is also true.

Thank you so much for the advice. I went back through the exam and retook, not just putting the answer because I knew it, but through working of the numbers and going over in my head why it was the correct answer. I plan on going over the areas I know I am weak on tomorrow, through reading the book, going over flash cards & doing MCQs and then taking another practice exam on Wednesday to see where I am at & see if there is anything that I need to spend my last few hours really focusing on.

    BEC 7/20/10 88 (90 hours)
    AUD 8/27/10 73 (65 hours), retake 11/22/10 81 (75 hours)
    FAR 10/28/10 80 (157 hours)
    REG 1/7/10 extended to 1/17/10 78 (130 hours) I'M DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
