Hey Guys I just wanted to know if 4 weeks would be enough time for FAR. How many hours a week are needed to pass?

I do not work so I have more than enough time to devote to studying.

Also, I just took Reg would Far be the best choice for my next exam?

    Any advice would be great!

    Thanks!

It's possible, just depends on the quality of time you put in and how well you absorb/retain information.

FAR has a lot of material, not to mention the countless #'s of MC practice Q's.

I used Becker and was working full time and it took me 2.5 months to study for it.

    FAR: 87
    AUD: 86
    BEC: 86
    REG: 84! Officially Done!

@jen not sure if you're talking about me or someone else (i wouldn't consider my score flying colors)

but yes i passed after about a week of intense prep… ~70 hours total i think… so 4 weeks shouldn't be a problem if you're relatively familiar with the material from college/etc already

    FAR - 81

I was wondering about this too. Right now I'm whipping through Becker at lightning speed just trying to keep up with the homework assignments as they come due in my University class, and working as a tax preparer. Once I graduate, though, I will begin my serious study plan. At the suggestion of some folks here, I think I want to take FAR first, then AUD to get them out of the way as I expect they will be harder for me than REG or BEC.

Assuming that I treat studying like a full-time job – say 40 hours per week – (since I won't be working beyond tax day) I'm wondering how many weeks y'all recommend for each section. I'm hoping to take FAR at the beginning of July and AUD in the same testing window in mid or late August, then REG at the beginning of October & BEC in mid to late November. I am REALLY hoping to take each section only once.

In my opinion, I do not believe 4 weeks is enough for FAR.

Maybe it's just me, but I've been working at FAR for 3 1/2 weeks and I've barely scratched the surface. I'm getting deeper into the material now.

Granted, I have no experience in accounting, so maybe that's why it's taking me a while.

I'm studying full-time, and I'm HOPING that I'll be ready by end April. There's a chance I'll have to study into May.

    FAR - 86 - 2/27/14
    AUD - 75 - 5/29/14
    BEC - 80 - 8/31/14
    REG - 89 - 2/27/15
    Praise Jesus! I'm done!!

I think it depends on how good a student/studier you are. I did it in a little under 4 weeks. I was full time studying, though. It really does depend on how much you remember from college. For instance, if my college governmental course was 14 inches deep (in the proverbial CPA river) the level of governmental accounting in my review material was about 5 inches deep, and the level of information I saw on the exam was about 3/4 inch deep. I probably could have gotten every question right with a cursory glance at my college binder. Of course you don't know that until you've already sat for it, and then it's too late to study “just the right amount”.

I say if you're a good student, and you can do it full time, go for it. 4 weeks is enough and more time won't make that much of a difference. Part of the mystery of this exam is that we all seem to prepare, and can frequently feel like we need more time, but then frequently the questions we actually see that we don't know the correct answer for wouldn't have been covered with extra time anyway.

If you're going to do it, consult with someone else who has already sat that used your same review material. Mine for FAR was ordered in chapters that progressed roughly from least tested to most tested. See if it's the same for yours. If it is, don't get bogged down on early chapters so that you run out of time for later ones.

    AUD - 88
    FAR - 90
    REG - 85
    BEC - 88
