    I'm going to try it for sure. I plan to schedule the exam for end of Feb.

    how do you feel about the IFRS…did you buy the new materials?

    I have it scheduled for 1/27 but may move it up depending on how my re-review goes (70 first time). I did get Becker's 2011 materials as I like their practice exams format but haven't really gone through it much yet. Text does have mentions of IFRS but it appears mostly comparison with GAAP.

    I have yet to purchase the new materials as I am waiting for them to show up on ebay for a lower price. I still get refunded for the exam but I'd rather spend less up front. I figure ill get the new materials by mid december.

    I am taking FAR at the end of January. I am purchasing the 2011 updated materials from Becker today. So far, my studies are going good. I'm on B6 (Pensions). But I'm nervous to see the new IFRS stuff. And the format of the smaller sims scares me a bit.

    For the new sims. I think its almost the same thing we get now. Instead of 2 big ones with 3 tabs each we get 7 seperate ones. It might be an advantage if you know the material. Ever study hard on one subject and its not even tested?? And the obscure one you didn't study is the simulation? 7 unrelated tabs give you a better chance to.shine.

    We can also manage our time better. Can see what we are up against initially and plan accordingly. rather than the current format, if you struggle on one tab ur stuck till you close the testlet…and then run out of time and leave tabs u did know, blank cuz no time. now.you can at least do the ones you do know, then leave the unknown ones blank if no time…*edit*..no extra time

    This is what I'm hoping.

    Wow Herbieherb, I didn't know we can see the stuff beforehand and we get an extra half-hour. That's really great news! Thanks for the info.

    FAR is still only 4 hours. There is no extra half hour.

    Aww sorry about that then no extra1/2 hr. And Im just assuming its a testlet once you open it you can see all the questions?

    I got my becker 2011 materials and feel like a lot changed. It will be like restudy for me. It doesn't add an extra half hour but you will not have to write the WC so it is like adding the extra half hour at least for me.

    We need to be hopeful, lets network and keep our spirits high while studying for this beast.

    Yeah they are only 4 testlets. The first 3 are MCQs and the 4th one has the seven task based simulations. So you can see all seven task based simulations in one testlet.

    FARbehind…what makes you think there's so much new stuff? The only new item on the 2011 exam is IFRS. The rest is the same.

    Well,

    You say it's “just IFRS” but this translates into a lot in terms of new pass keys through the book. Usually, it says: and this is how it works in IFRS. Now, I believe these will not be heavily tested but we still need to know them and it tends to get confusing. At least I get confused by so many concepts. I am just thinking of the misery of the next few months.
