So I have 2 attempts left to pass FAR before my REG expires 11/30/2013 (other 3 sections done). I’m not too worried about my ability to pass in two tries, but I’m trying to come up with an effective study plan. In my prior attempt, I scored a 71, but really dropped the ball on the governmental/bond chapters. I had a retake in January and don’t even remember what I scored because I didn’t study with work and what not but was going to loose the section attempt so I just went and gave it a pathetic attempt (at least I got to see more actual question types). I’ve been using Becker 2012, so I was thinking I should maybe supplement it this time around. I also have the NINJA notes for 2013 and 2012 Becker flashcards.

Most would say just focus on those chapters I did poorly on, but I took this exam last August and don’t see myself remembering the other chapters to the degree I knew them at the time.

Any recommendations for how I should approach this last one?

I would stick with Becker, go back and redo all the MCQs, don't skip anything, and invest in Becker's final review for FAR but don't do it until after you back through all the regular Becker review homework. I found this method worked the best for me and the final review pulled together a lot of things I didn't get the first time going through it.

    FAR 92 (2/27/13)
    AUD 99 (4/18/13)
    REG 93 (7/5/13)
    BEC 92 (8/12/13)

I cannot say it enough – change your approach. It sounds like you realize you should do that anyway. I would suggest following Jeff's NINJA approach and buy his NINJA audio/notes (I swear he doesn't pay me to say this)! Seeing the information in a different way is very helpful. It is definately a mistake to only focus on the areas you are weaker in – FAR covers so much material that you can easily forget things if you don't revisit everything. Forget researching the lectures unless there are specific topics you are really struggling with. Forget the premade flash cards and make your own – write down little “fact nuggets” as Jeff says…when you are struggling with something or even when you miss a question.

To stay on track, you should set up a study schedule with planned study time. Add some buffer time as well for those days when life happens or you just can't push yourself to study.

    Good luck!

    BEC: 79 - April 2011
    FAR: 78 - May 2011
    AUD: 81 - May 2012
    REG: 79 - October 2012
    Ethics: Passed - March 2013
    I am finally DONE!

I am in the same boat with FAR. I can take it once in August and once in October and then I lose AUD on Oct 19th. Just the thought of re-taking AUD has scared me into ACTION. I am going to give it everything I have and destroy this beast! Good luck in the next testing window! You can do this!!!

Thanks for the advice. I would at least prefer AUD to REG. The thought of taking REG again… No. This will be the last time I even think about that…

Sure! I also forgot to mention – I was I this same boat except even worse. I had two chances to take REG before I lost BEC and FAR!! First try in August last year was a FAIL! I had only one chance left to pass REG in October or I was going to lose both of those parts. So I was under a lot of pressure to pass and thankfully I did! It was an AMAZING feeling and I really hope you can figure out a plan that will work for you so you can know what it is like to see that final passing score!!

    BEC: 79 - April 2011
    FAR: 78 - May 2011
    AUD: 81 - May 2012
    REG: 79 - October 2012
    Ethics: Passed - March 2013
    I am finally DONE!
