    Hi guys

    I’ve been preparing for far for the last couple weeks and I’ve done all the becker lectures and about 40% of the homework so far. I’ve listened to the ninja audio daily and I’m kind of freaking out now because I’m not getting a grasp on the material aswell as I would like.

    What’s the best way to use up the time and conquer FAR?

    Dec 5th could be my last exam!!

    BEC - PASSED
    AUD - PASSED
    REG - PASSED
    FAR - PASSED

    @zieba:

    Yeahhh…I'm kinda just so pissed at FAR at this point, I've resigned myself to taking this section as many times as needed to pass…that's just how it is…I WILL pass FAR…it will not defeat me permanently.

    You're the first person who seems to have an easier time with WTB vs. Becker…I have used Becker for every section up until this last attempt with FAR. At first WTB pissed me off…it's like a different dialect of accounting. But eventually I got it…I sat there and pounded 20 + MCQ per topic until I got around or over 70-75% on each topic. After I got through all of the topics and was proficient enough I pounded pop quizzes, which really helped to round things out and make sure I didn't forget the earlier topics.

    Good luck zieba! We can do this…I'm not even worried. It'll happen.

    Im taking far on the 30th, my first cpa section and im quickly going over all the text and mcqs in cpaexcel. Im also using ninja notes, I guess the key is to focus on the big picture and dont get hung up on minor details and just be familiar with every topic that might be covered

    I dunno, until you get to developmental stage companies and expending and/or capitalizing costs and you say to yourself “was it? or.. was it?” lol.

    You're wise for doing FAR first. I didn't have the guts and started with the easy ones. Your future looks bright.

    AUD - 75*, 88 done 5/14! (*exp)
    BEC - 74 , 77
    REG - 65 , 76 (10 point combooo!!)
    FAR - 69 , 75

    CPA4birthday…..

    At around 8PM on December 6th I will have either FINISHED my CPA journey, or be back to two our of 4 passed (with a six month time limit).

    Is the use of FML frowned upon in this fine establishment?

    I did not find NINJA notes useful :(. I felt really good writing them, but I could not translate this into any sort of meaningful bump post writing.

    What HAS worked for me on the last 3 sections is writing the correct answer to every MCQ I've gotten wrong (during the review phase of prep). Pages and pages of tid-bits which I eventually end up knowing. Wiley was definitely different than Becker – which I also used almost exclusively for three of the four – but I find the instant feedback and explanations invaluable during review time.

    @Zieba @rbcpa, we're in a same boat here!

    I'm studying with wiley book and i'm focusing on solving mcq more than anything. I dont watch lecture, i dont read book, i only read book / write notes for the mcq that i didnt understand. So far i've solve 780 q and then resloved them with bunch of notes. For two weeks i have left, i'm planning to solve abt 600q that i havent solved yet, and redo those 600q. Then solve abt 800q from all the chapters(resolving ones that i got wrong, will be third time solving it. I donno if i can do all that within two wks but i have to! My audit expires feb. I have another chance but i really dont wanna study cpa 2014.

    Let's do this!!!!!!!!!

    I take FAR on the 26th and I'm not sure how ready I am. I've done about 1500 qs in 30 question practice exams and I generally get 80% correct or better. I need to do a bit more work on SIMs, but I'm going to get this.

    REG 8/12 - passed 79
    BEC 7/13 - passed 84
    AUD 8/13 - passed 83
    FAR 11/13 - Passed 83

    Now off to a new county...

    For the past three sections (and this) I would take 1-1.5 months to go through video lectures and get the Becker homework and SIMs out of the way. Then I find that I've forgotten everything I did because it's been 1+ months since I looked at some of the early stuff. I panic and just do 3 weeks of MCQ's before the exam.

    I can't help to think that those lectures are a waste of time. MCQ and SIM review until day before the exam is what I'm doing. I noticed my Wiley test bank expires on the 26th of November, dammit. I'm going to have to buy a pin for FAR just for 10 days… I am enjoying practice sessions very much though so I don't want to be without in the period leading up to the exam in the name of saving some money.
