OK, now I am 100% ready to take 6 classes and get done with this 150 hour requirement. I am a bit confused thought. I am planning to take few classes from Penn foster college. I am planning to take MAT106 – Math for Business and Finance. But I have already taken math classes before. But I believe that its stat and algebra. Not the same title. Would this class count towards my 150 credit requirement. Anyways, how does this whole thing work? Can I take any level classes if I am doen with the accounting and business requirements. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

You can take any type of class. Which is why I think it's the biggest waste of money. We shouldn't have to have 150 credits to call ourselves CPA's. I was just 6 credits shy, took a 3 credit course this past fall, and I need 3 more credits to reach the 150 credit mark. I'm done all business/accounting course, so I could have basically taken a cooking and a sewing class–just to call myself a CPA. The class I took last fall cost me 1,000 >:0 You can take any level course, it just needs to be from an accredited college. Call your state board before you register for any courses, just to make sure they will accept credits from that college.

    Peanut,

Thanks for the info. But if I have already taken Math classes before can I again take another one to fulfill the 150 credit hour requirement.

For instance, I had taken Math1324 Alg Eco and bus ana. Now I am planning to take MAT106 – Math for Business and Finance. Would that be counted as duplication or it would be ok. Please advise….

Event though the topics looks similar, the syllabus are completely different. Thanks

    @ Peanut,

Also, why did you spend 1000 bucks for one class…Try Penn Foster Coll..its accredited and their classes cost $250 including books and all the supplies you need..Unless you wanted some classes that would also work for your master if you have not done it yet

It's a completely different class, that should be okay. Call the state board just in case but it's different class so it should be fine. I did something very similar.. I have taken a million accounting classes–but this past fall when looking for a class to register for, I saw “Accounting for Small Businesses.” That particular class I've never taken, but I've taken every other accounting class under the sun. I took that class last fall and it will count towards my credits. I thought I was “smart” taking an accounting course while studying because I thought it would relate. What an idiot I am, the class was terrible and sooo much work.
