I hate this ish so much, not the material, I got the major concepts and everything, its just the GAAP/IFRS and the little sh*t that kills me.

I hate the amount of time to learn all the stupid crap you could just google in 2 seconds in the real world.

How you guys deal with having your social life sufficated?

Try to remind yourself this won't last forever and your social life will be back once you are done.

I chose to have a better attitude. The process goes by a lot more smoothly that way.

Just think of it as a short term visit, man. Get in, get some new powers, and finish the exam.

I actually have a passion for Accounting. I enjoy studying, sounds crazy I know. The things I hate are the fees, the 18-month window, and the rude Prometric workers.

@senker, regarding your question: “How you guys deal with having your social life sufficated?”…my answer/question is “what social life?” I have my social life back in between tests. Just focus on what you are studying so that you can finish this process as fast as possible…it's like pulling a bandage.

With proper time management, your social life should suffer too much. During my studies, I put in the work but I still had at least 2 outings weekly and Sundays were light study days so I was able to catch at least some TV.

Take on a more positive attitude and focus on the fact that the sacrifice you're making now will pay for itself once you have those 3 letters after your name.

If you're not familiar with it already, I recommend the Pomodoro Technique to help you study efficiently – that's what I used.

    Hi KasiaS,

Can you elaborate on the Pomodoro Technique?

Sure, you can read the free e-book on the site: http://www.pomodorotechnique.com

In short, you break your tasks up into 25-minute “Pomodoros” during those 25 minutes you give your full and undivided attention to whatever task you have at hand, whether it be doing MCQs or reviewing notes, listening/watching a lecture, or cleaning the house. The main rule is that you allow no distraction during this time period – that includes cruising facebook or A71. Once the pomodoro is over, you take a 5 minute breather to do what you please – this is when you can return to stalking A71 and NASBA during the score release. After you complete 4 pomodoros, you take a longer break – I usually chose a 30-45 minute break to watch a favorite show.

THere is a little more to it, but that's the basic overview of the technique. I'm a big fan of it and still use it in my day-to-day and at work. If you do a search for it, you should find a few threads about the technique here as well.

#1 reason I hate the CPA

It's not standardized across all states.

Getting a license in one state should be exactly the same for all other states. Same education requirements, same experience requirements, etc.

Unless you mean only the exam itself…in that case, I rather like the challenge. It means more if it's hard as hell.
