I need a few classes to transfer my license in to a different state. Is University of Phoenix accredited or is it just a huge scam? Their prices are outrageously high per credit. Any other recommendation are appreciated. I work full time so going to a tradional classroom setting is tough.

I did both my bachelors and my masters online at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). Loved all my courses!

I took most of my accounting and business classes online through a community college for lower level and local state universities for upper level when I was working full time. I think univ of phoenix is not technically a scam, but it's definitely a rip off. The online community college classes I took were under $350 each, and the state univ. classes were around $650. It is probably worth your while to see what is available online locally.

I did 2 courses online with University of Phoenix………was it worth it? Not sure.

The online experience = Yes, the professors were there all the time and it was harder than going in person. The team assignments were a little bit of a challenge but doable.

    The price = $1,500 per class, I don't know.

I still need 3 more courses and have looked into Louisiana State University, but their offerings for “real” online courses are limited. They have another option, but you have to take the exams in person on specific sites under the supervision of an approved proctor.

Yeah I think the best route is to take classes at a local State College. As long as the credits count, who cares what school it is? I'd go for the cheapest option.

Thanks for the feedback, I agree Phonix is a rip off almost double my local university. There should be a string about how to obtain the extra credit for the 150 hour rule. I have most of it, just need a few to transfer my license to the state I disire. Jeff start a string regarding on line colleges that are accredited to fullfill the extra credits some of us need.

CC online classes would be a much better option if you only need a few units and not a degree/cert. In California, I was able to file a BOG waiver which covered most of my tuition fees. Not sure if you have something similar in your state but it's worth checking out.
