Went into this exam feeling good and armed with lots of knowledge. First testlet went extremely well. I bet I got 26-27 right. Second testlet was extremely brutal. I feel like every question was outside my realm. Never felt so hopeless on an exam before. 3rd testlet was pretty hard as well. Sims went alright…2 of them were rough but I managed to compete. I have to pass FAR and Reg before Jan. 27th. I’m thinking I should just keep studying FAR, even though I felt like i was fully prepared today. Hoping for a less brutal test next time around. Has anyone had a similar experience after excelling in the first testlet?

i've heard of ppl who passed who felt the 1st testlet was easy but the last 2 were hard

what about ppl who felt every testlet was hard?

OP, it could be totally fine. i thought the first testlet was kinda hard, but i did fine, then the second one was horrible. i flagged like 15, and third testlet was medium. i started tearing up during sims.

but guess what, i passed! so just wait for the score. you simply can't tell.

    AUD - 7/5/13 - 93
    FAR - 8/24/13 - 91
    BEC - 11/30/13 - 92
    REG - 2/24/14 - 91! DONE!

    Awwwww…. freak out! Na, na-na, na, nana….

Exam is tomorrow 12:30PM for better or worse. No matter how long you study, you always feel unprepared. I spent the day re-doing NFP homework, and rereading. and just recently started to browse through chapters – stopping at pass keys and examples for a bit.

Tomorrow afternoon I'll either have all four done, or be back to two of four… a most depressing thought.

    AUD - 75*, 88 done 5/14! (*exp)
    BEC - 74 , 77
    REG - 65 , 76 (10 point combooo!!)
    FAR - 69 , 75

My exam seemed similar. The first testlet was tough, the second had a lot of questions that did not come up during my studies/testbank. The third testlet was monster. This was my second match with FAR so luckily the SIMS were not that bad (in fact, I had an exact SIM from my the first FAR exam I failed). But, I'm not 100% sure I passed as I checked my Wiley book for answers when I left and missed quite a few. Prayers for all of us, it would make an awesome Christmas present to pass 🙂

    REG - 89, 04/29/13
    BEC - 81, 08/06/13
    FAR - 84, 12/19/13
    AUD - 82, 10/05/13

I thought the entire thing was difficult and I passed. I was honestly freaking out during the test because I couldn't notice a difference in the difficulty. I walked out beyond demoralized.

For everyone who just took FAR, try not to think about your results (as hard as it may be!) and let it bring you down. You might be pleasantly surprised on score-release day!

    REG 10/12/13 - 94
    FAR 10/17/13 - 93
    AUD 11/11/13 - 92
    BEC 11/20/13 - 87
    ethics 11/27/13 - 92%

I just received my score yesterday for FAR and was absolutely shocked I got a 76. While I read the first 7 chapters and got through the Becker homework problems for the first 5 chapters, I went into the exam having not completed a single Becker sim whatsoever.

The first testlet seemed rough, good mix of theory and computation, but the second and third seemed no harder which led me to believe I was doing poorly throughout.

As for the sims, I suppose I leveraged the authoritative literature tab to the max. I'm a practicing tax accountant so research has become second nature to me. I highly recommend attempting to at least devote a minute or two in order to research the codification and hopefully find illustrative examples that might help you snag an extra point or two on a sim.

Keep your fingers crossed and you never know what score you might get. The psychometric grading is a bit complex to formally understand but at least know that it tends to help you more than hurt IMO. Good luck and keep your head up, I work with staff (and partners) much smarter than me that have had to retake sections. Keep at it.

    congratulation!!!

i want to ask if anyone felt like they bombed the mcq, but then you feel like you ruled most of the sim and still pass??

all my other three(audit, reg, bec), i flied through the first testlet, 3-4 confusing but others, i was confident i got over 80%(just on 1st testlet) even if i feel like i did bad on 2nd, 3rd testlet, sim, i still passed.

so i cant lose this feeling that your first testlet really counts big on grading…obviously aicpa dont state that anywhere, but from my experience…

unfortunately, when i took far last wednesday, i bombed all mcq. there were so many confusing conceptual questions that i had to guess through most of them. but i feel like i did well on the sim.

and i thought i was prepared… but turns out,,, i wasn't even closed to be prepared lol

anybody had this experience and still passed?

i think i'll take off another three days and study far again..
