Last week was my 2nd try at FAR. I made a 72 first time, where I felt pretty good about the MCQ’s (knowing I missed a few) but the SIMS were nightmarish and I knew I bombed those. This time, again I know I missed some of the MCQ’s, but overall I felt like I did decent. The 2nd testlet was definitely more difficult than the first, though I’m not sure about the 3rd. At that point, I had forgotten to make a mental note of whether or not it was more difficult, though my memory tells me it was similar to the 2nd. To prep for FAR this go-round, I focused hard on getting through MCQ’s as quickly as possible (my goals was to take 30 minutes for each section). However, I had lots of really long problems with computations, and it took me two hours to finish all three testlets. As for SIMS, I was relieved that most of mine were on topics I am familiar with, but also I just felt more at ease because I knew what to expect this go-round. It stinks to fail, but prior exam experience greatly helped reduce my anxiety. On my first try, I was short of time for SIMS and also just very flustered, to the point I couldn’t think straight. This time I finished the test with about 20 minutes to spare.
Government is definitely my weakest topic. I cannot remember governmental financial statements to save my life. Ugh.
