Went in to the exam feeling confident left feeling incompetent. Whoever the people are that make up these questions, they are the ones that I want to take a prepratory class with so i can learn they’re format for the sims and the types of multiple questions they will ask. I think one of the reasons why there is such a low pass rate for the cpa exam is that the person teaching (Narrating) you the material is not the one giving you the exam. In college, the Professor taught, the professor gave. I saw some multiple questions that made absolutely no sense to me and the sad part is it involved topics that I thought i was super comfortable with. I would give an example but don’t to make waves. Anyway, after taking FAR for the 2nd time, I’ve come to realize that if I fail this exam, next study time around, I really have to blow up every single question and make it the hardest simulation I can possibly think of. That’s just how it is and how it has to be. You don’t even want to know how many hours and months i spent preparing for this exam. Don’t get me wrong, I really like Becker and they have helped me tremendously but now it’s time for me to take it to the next level. I’m know I’m not a genius but I know I’m not stupid either. I know when i study and make a valiant effort i see good results and that’s what needs to happen here!! I didnt sleep much last night because I’m still in shock but I am going to win this battle. There will be blood!!!!!!!

so1913….I think its safe to say that they make the exam harder on the 2nd attempt. I really do have a feeling that you passed, I can feel it in my bones…LOL. No seriously you got a 70 on the 1st attempt and who knows maybe the curve will be outrageous this time around and put you over the hump. Did you get through all of the Sims?

@so1913 I'm feeling exactly the same!! My last exam made all my studying feel useless. :- As bad as you feel, YOU NEVER KNOW! You could've passed. I was telling my husband last night how I was starting to get nervous about Friday and he said “I thought you were SURE you failed, so why are you nervous? We both know it's because there is a chance, better than you probably think, that you passed and that's why you're getting anxious!”

    REG - 65, 70, 80!
    BEC - 35, 62, 79!
    AUD - 73, 75!
    FAR - 65, 73, 70, 75! DONE.

Can someone reply to post with positive experiences with FAR or advice on how to pass FAR?

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

Study Monk – I passed FAR twice, first with a 76 and then with an 85. It can be done and you will do it. I walked out the last time knowing I had failed. I was mad! I felt like I had wasted the last 5 years of my life. It was Eminem at top volume all the way home. I was so sure I failed that I didn't even check my score. I made Sandra, an A71 alum, check it for me. She called me to tell me I had passed. You can't tell with this exam so don't stress over it. Just study, work, and keep moving forward.

@Study Monk – I may want to revise my post after scores come out (!) but I feel like FAR was more straightforward in terms of material (although a monster in terms of QUANTITY of material) than REG for example. Some of it certainly is luck of the draw–if you get a test that focuses (especially the sims) on your weak points you're potentially screwed, but if you go in there with a pretty sold basis generally I think you'll be OK. I saved FAR 'til the end because I'm not an accountant and I don't have an accounting degree so the material was pretty foreign to me starting out, but I think if you just crank on through you'll be OK. (Like I said though, I reserve the right to change my post in a few days!)

My advice (for what it's worth): Don't let FAR be the boogeyman. It's huge but not wildly complex if you just start with the basics and work your way up.

@ Study Monk I'm not sure anyone has a positive experience ever lol. You just have to take the test and hope you pass. As far as studying, I would suggest trying to know everything. You just have no idea what they will test you on.

    FAR - 93
    REG - 87
    BEC - 84!!!!
AUD - 99!!!!!! CPA exam complete.

@highlightnumb I didn't get to 1 sim, but all the sims except for research I just feel I bombed. I wasn't comfortable with any of them when at least on the 1 st attempt I thought I had a clue (obviously that wasnt the case lol). Worse exam experience yet out of all of them. A pass for me would be an absolute miracle and would confirm this exam is a sham, seriously lol.

I'll lose my audit credit if a fail is confirmed today and pretty much back to 3 exams to go:( I haven't even mentioned score release to anyone… you guys will be the only ones who have the ability to comfort me when the news comes out lol.

    AUD - 90 Pass
REG - 70,61,81 Pass DONE DONE DOOOOONNEEE!!!!!!!!
    BEC - 79 - Pass
    FAR - 70,82 - Pass

@nbad311 you're right…but I've never experienced a surprise pass, I usually call the outcome accurately except for my FAR 1st attempt…I really did expect at least a 75. Good luck to you today! Hopefully we'll be having a different discussion at the end of the day.
