I took FAR last week and after walking out I feel like I failed, although I didn’t think the test was as terrible as others have mentioned. My first MC testlet had a lot of obscure questions that were not mentioned in Becker. My second testlet felt easier than the first. Is this a bad sign? I have consistently scored in the 80s-90s on mock exams (average of 85). I am nervous because I feel like I failed although I felt that I studied for many hours.

Usually if the 2nd testlet felt easier then that means you didn't do so well on the first, but that doesn't mean that you failed. For me I felt both testlets were ridiculously hard and I managed to squeeze through with a 78. It's in the hands of the CPA gods now, nothing you can do right now except relax for a few days and start studying for your next one!

@Kims1234 what topics were not reviewed by Becker you have run into? Were long calculations involved in MCQ? Did you noticed that the focus of the test was fixed on some particular topic? NFP, Pensions?

No calculations basically (simple ones if numbers were involved). Didn't have a lot on assets/consolidations, pensions/equity, or liabilities. A lot came from chapters 1-2 and 8-10. My version was very odd and others have said that they have a lot of questions from the chapters I didn't see at all.

You have a great chance if you averaged 85 on the Becker mock exams. There is a thread somewhere around here where people post their mock vs. actual scores. There are many, many people who scored 50-60's on the mock only to pass the actual exam easily. I'm not saying you absolutely passed but you probably did better than you think and 99.9% walk out of Prometric feeling like they bombed it.

Cut yourself some slack and try not to ruminate about the exam, and every question you might have gotten wrong, and whether or not you passed. Easier said than done, I know. Best thing you can possibly do for yourself is move on and study for the next one while waiting for your FAR score. Continued study will give you something else constructive to focus on.
