Testlets didnt get harder?

Took FAR today. I read people saying “first testlet was easy, second was harder,” etc. but for me, all of them felt hard. I am kind of discouraged because that means my testlets didnt improve. Also, I feel I got most of my government and nonprofit questions right, but for the other topics, I guessed on a lot of them. I’m not sure exactly but it feels like I only got somewhere around 60%-70% of the MCQ for other topics right. Also, for sims, I am fairly confident on 4 including the research sim, completely guessed on 2 of them but they were journal entries so there were opportunity for guessing, and completely bombed on the last 1 because you have to fill in numbers so there was not much opportunity for guessing.

no point in speculating…..how the heck do you know what they consider hard, medium, etc – just relax and look forward to a pass on June 9th 🙂

Thanks for the feedback. Honestly, I'm just frustrated at myself. For a lot of the MCQ I had, even if I had another month to prepare, I don't think it would've helped much.

I agree. I just took AUD and I never got that overly “wordy” testlet. In my 3 passed tests I have always gotten one testlet that was just wordy and had seemingly more complicated questions. Yesterday for AUD my testlets were much like the first time I took the exam. All like one or two liners with a few longer ones sprinkled in. Since it mirrored my first AUD fail I'm pretty depressed about it and anticipating a retake. I hope I'm wrong. I did notice that many of the released AUD AICPA “harder” questions are short one line questions, so I have a little hope.

I know I shouldn't worry about it , but I can't help it. If I don't pass I have no idea what else to do to prepare. It seems for many questions I can get it down to two answer choices, and then I probably choose wrong.

I also had questions , especially a few SIMS, that no matter how much longer I studied it wouldnt have mattered. Atleast we only have to wait a little over a week to find out.

It's pretty subjective depending on what areas you feel more comfortable in.

For FAR, I felt the first 2 testlets were hard and the 3rd was EXTREMELY easy….it was actually a little unmotiviating during the exam since I thought there is no way I passed if im getting this easy of questions in the 3rd testlet and wanted to give up.

I surprisingly got an 88 on FAR.

Hang in there, you never know!

    BEC - PASS JULY 2014
    FAR - PASS DEC 2014
    AUD - PASS FEB 2015

If your testlets didn't appear to get harder, then that's a good sign in my mind. It means you were well prepared!

I was one of the biggest people in predicting how my exam went. Until I took audit. I had the same experience as you, I thought they started hard and stayed that way- meaning they couldn't have gotten harder. I got a 95, so they must have gotten harder, and I must not have done too poorly. Try not to worry about it. There is a good chance it went well!

The AICPA says that it's possible to get a passing score with all medium testlets. It's still possible that you may have passed even if your testlets really did never get hard.

    FAR 77 12/9/14
    AUD 89 2/24/15
    BEC 81 3/10/15
    REG 71 5/27/15 83 8/25/15 (it's done!!!)

I spent too much time during the test trying to assess if the testlets were getting harder. I psyched myself out because I thought they were getting easier, however, this was not the case and I ended up with a great score.

    FAR- 82
    REG- 93
    AUD- 89
    BEC- 88

what about your last 2 FAR exams? Similar experiences?

I have the exact feeling as yours. Didnt notice any increase of difficulty and praying for a pass on June 9.

I guessed on a lot of government and nonprofit accounting the last two times I took it. I made sure not to make the same mistake this time.

I didn't feel my testlets getting harder but still passed with an 87. Very similar to my first experience, but this time I passed

Attempting to decipher the difficulty of your testlets, especially while taking the test, is one of the most ridiculous things you can possibly do. With my BEC and FAR tests I thought all of my testlets were easy and with REG I thought the last two were incredibly difficult. My results across all three were fairly consistent.

    BEC - 82
    REG - 86
    FAR - 85
    AUD - 84 and I'm out!!!!!
    Ethics - 95

Act II: Add a comma and three letters to my title.
Act III: Time Travel and marry a young Denise Richards (and prevent subsequent plastic surgery),return to present.
Act IV: Serve as Successor to Elon Musk as CEO of Tesla.
Act V: Ensure Judgment Day has been stopped. Utopia achieved.
