Strategy when you absolutely do not know how to do a SIM?

    From reading through the forum, it seems like this is a common event.

    I was thinking, especially if it’s a journal entry SIM, if I don’t know and I’m going off guesses, I should just fill in zeroes. Odds are I’ll get a decent amount right just from that.

    I will write down all of the info (depending on how much time is left) onto the little whiteboard thingies the Prometric People hand out, hoping that it jogs my memory.

    I skip it to the end. If there is time, try to look it up in the literature. If not, fill in zeros and for journal entries put in accounts that seem relevant. For example, you may be able to figure out the cash part of the journal entry even if you know nothing more.

    That's true. Cash account is a good start. I'm just looking at these practice SIMS like “What the hell is going on I did well on MCQ” lol

    If you have the time, search the AL.

    Many times they will spell out the entire JE for you in the AL with examples of debits and credits for certain entries.

    It beats just flat out guessing.
