To keep this short – I took FAR a couple of months back.

For studying, I only got through modules 1-6 using Becker. I wasn’t 100% dedicated and was very ill for an entire month.

During the exam, I had a quite a few GOVT/NFP questions that was covered in 7-10. I also didn’t have time to even complete 2 testlets.

Anyway, I had a pretty good idea and failed and boy did I. Like the lowest score I’ve ever made on anything. I can’t even find on this entire forum where anyone came close.

Is there hope for me to pass this test? I know I can be dedicated and persistent, just need for someone to tell me it’s possible to make a horrific score and recover from it.

Is there hope? Well that depends if you are willing to put in the time and are dedicated to the process. If not, there is no chance. Saying it and actually doing it is two completely different things. Hate to sound harsh, but bombing the exam is a wake up call. You can either wake up or not that is all depends on you. If you decide to wake up, then you have to put the past behind you. No point in dwelling on it.

What did you score? I can't imagine being able to pass FAR without studying GOVT/NFP unless you have previous experience with it. I think anyone can pass these exams if they study smart and efficiently.

I also bombed FAR in my first take with 54 but as some one said above, that was my wake up call and i passed on second time with 76.

@CPAcandidate3 I don't even want to share what I scored. It is awful. Thank you. My goal this time around is to study that way.

@Anthony I was really dedicated and studied hard until I got sick. That happened and it just killed my motivation. Towards the end I discovered this website and seriously regret not doing more MCQs and simulations. It has definitely been a learning experience on studying and dedication.

For both of you, do you think spending time during the review period working simulations and as many MCQ as possible is a smart idea?

I've studied the same way for each exam. I watch all my lectures and then do around 200-300 all new MCQ questions. Generally there are 2 or 3 sections where I'm scoring under 50%. I go back and rewatch the lectures relating to those sections and then hit the MCQ again. Once All of my section are around 70% I just 60 MCQs a day until the exam and make sure I read the explanations on each question. I don't read or take notes because I think I'm more productive watching lectures and doing MCQs. I've yet to do a practice sim which I think can be a waste of time.
