    Hello,

My name is Pete and I sat for the FAR section of the exam this past Saturday. I attempted to score myself as I went along as follows. For each multiple choice sections I wrote down how sure I was I got it correct. Obviously the lowest % I would write is 25% if I completely guessed. If I narrowed it down to 2 answers I wrote 50% and so on. If I knew it for sure I would write 100%. If was confident in my answer but not 100% sure I would write 80% or 90%. I think you get the picture.

On the first set of 30 out of a possible 3000…I got 2345…roughly 78%. I am 100% sure the question got harder on the 2nd 30 question and my total came to1910…roughly 64%. I am 100% certain the final 30 got easier and my total out of 3000 came to 2470…roughly 82%.

    For the SIMS-

    #1- 90% correct

    #2- 50% correct

    #3- 100 % correct

    #4- 90% correct

    #5- 75% correct

    #6- 80% correct

    #7- 50% correct.

Now I completely understand that when factoring in that all the questions I got right could have been ones that didn’t count and I could have just guessed wrong each time… I am just baffled by the metrics of how they score it… and yes I know it has nothing to do with the % you got correct… does anyone have a guess of there is any chanced I passed?

Wishing a failing grade is definitely not cool. OP, if you were able to memorize all this information, I dont think you had a problem of memorizing 80% of what is on FAR, so I think you pass. This exam is more memory than anything else.

    Oh brother…………………

Uncalled but worthy piece of advice: concentrate on double checking answers within the testlets instead of doing/remembering this nonsense!!!!!

Seriously, as you go along and take other sections, you will learn that this exam is often unpredictable in terms of score. For one thing, I always felt that I passed but could never pin-point even approximate percentage of possible score. Hopefully, during score release you won't feel blindsided and happy with your score but be very aware that first scenario is very possible and there are many of folks here that can unfortunately attest to that.

Good luck and keep posted of how it turns out at the end.

I was very hesitant to originally post this bc i worried that i may be view as an outcast or something. i have a severe disability where an administrator at pro-metric physically checks the box on my behalf and because of this time is not an issue…. many of your responses were dealing with how could i possibly have enoug time…. well i am coming clean… it bc i lost my left arm about 3 years ago and i happen to be right handed…..

after each question i just wrote down what % sure i was… it may have cost me 10 min at the most

Can't wait for the update on 12/9 to see how accurate OP's calculations are.

But seriously… how on earth did you take the time to do this on FAR of all sections??? Easily the highest % of calc (as opposed to theory) questions of all 4.

I hope your estimates are conservative, OP 😉

I always throw the runes and let Odin's guidance show me what my score is. It's also important to sacrifice a chicken after a major exam, so the gods will give you an accurate telling. To do anything else would be foolish. I got an 87 on audit!

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"
