    Hello,

My name is Pete and I sat for the FAR section of the exam this past Saturday. I attempted to score myself as I went along as follows. For each multiple choice sections I wrote down how sure I was I got it correct. Obviously the lowest % I would write is 25% if I completely guessed. If I narrowed it down to 2 answers I wrote 50% and so on. If I knew it for sure I would write 100%. If was confident in my answer but not 100% sure I would write 80% or 90%. I think you get the picture.

On the first set of 30 out of a possible 3000…I got 2345…roughly 78%. I am 100% sure the question got harder on the 2nd 30 question and my total came to1910…roughly 64%. I am 100% certain the final 30 got easier and my total out of 3000 came to 2470…roughly 82%.

    For the SIMS-

    #1- 90% correct

    #2- 50% correct

    #3- 100 % correct

    #4- 90% correct

    #5- 75% correct

    #6- 80% correct

    #7- 50% correct.

Now I completely understand that when factoring in that all the questions I got right could have been ones that didn’t count and I could have just guessed wrong each time… I am just baffled by the metrics of how they score it… and yes I know it has nothing to do with the % you got correct… does anyone have a guess of there is any chanced I passed?

I find it interesting that you used some of the time during your exam to keep track of something like this.

To answer your question though, like you said, no one knows how they score the exams, it is best to just not worry about it until score release and start studying for your next test. Regardless, I have noticed my testlets get progressively harder, and I usually take that as a good sign since the points of harder questions are worth more and contribute to higher scores.

From what I understand, scoring takes into account the difficulty of the question.

You might want to not worry about it and just focus on your next exam now. It's not like you can do anything about it now anyways

Haha cute. I hope you passed though. Different questions weight differently, so the ones you answer 50% might totally be worth 10% of your grade (say if they have 1 question on pension).

My suggestion is that (I know it's hard, I've been there) you just stop thinking about it and relax until score release.

Oh dear. Go into your kitchen and pour yourself a nice glass of wine or make a stiff drink. You will never be able to accurately predict your score, so forget about it. Take comfort in the fact that win, lose, or draw FAR is out of your hair for a few weeks!

    REG: 75 DONE 🙂
    AUD: 61, 71, 68, 92 DONE 🙂
    BEC: 76 DONE 🙂

all i did was memorize the final % at the end of each set of 30 questions… time as never been an issue for me… in fact I usually have to slow my self down because i have so much time left over… this is my last section so i have nothing to do but worry….lol

i kinda wish i could study for another section cause the time seems to pass quicker but if i passed FAR I will be a CPA!!
