I almost cried

I really prepared hard for the FAR exam. I passed BEC and AUD with little efforts. After today’s exam, my confidence was completely damaged. I thought I was good at financial accounting but I guess I was wrong.

I thought FAR would not be so hard but then realized that it’s just too massive. The materials covered are just too much. So I had to reschedule the exam twice because I thought it would be impossible for me to pass.

Today I finally took the exam and I was 80% prepared I would say. MCQs were not so bad. Same as always I couldn’t tell the difficulty level. The problem was that I was too careful on the MCQs and spent too much time on them. I left 1 hours for simulations.

OMG, the simulations I got were brutal. The questions just seemed odd. So I panicked and ended up left 2 questions unanswered and I was only 50% sure on the other questions.

I almost cried leaving the test center just because so much was going on in my life and I really don’t want to take the exam again. I would say that there is 90% chance I will fail but I still hope to pass. I really need this.

I think I am going to cry to sleep tonight.

royalhat402 – i feel your pain. i studied FAR for like 3 months and the SIMs were crazy brutal. they were some sort of evil modified version of the new DRS coming up except i have to insert my answer instead of having choices. i had 4 of these… i wanted to quit 15 minutes into the SIMs. i didn't though, but i truly feel i will be lucky to break 60. and no, i'm not one of those people who think they fail but get 90.

    BEC - 75 (3x)
    AUD - 78 (3x)
    REG - 67, 66, Aug 1
    FAR - 54, Sept 8

@royalhat402, I took the FAR exam last month and felt the exact way you feel. I left 1 hour for SIMS, left 2 SIMS completely blank and felt horrible about the others. To top it off, I felt awful about the MCQ's. I flagged at least 10 MCQ's in the first two packets and probably 14 in the 3rd testlet. I didn't even have a chance to go back and review any of my flagged questions in the 3rd testlet because the clock was quickly ticking. I was depressed for three straight weeks, telling my family and friends that all the time spent studying was for nothing, and there was basically not even a mathematical chance that I could have passed….. I got an 82.

I know it sounds crazy! And honestly, I still have no idea how it's possible. I knew gov. and not for profit cold, so that definitely helped.. but still. I would love to see a breakdown of how I passed.

I feel your pain! This was my third attempt at FAR after getting two 70s (with COMPLETE opposite score breakdowns, mind you) and I'm losing REG. This time around, I felt really prepared for the SIMS, but feel like I didn't pass due to the MQCs. I just don't even know what to do to pass this exam, and am so bummed out to go from 75% done to 50%. I'm just trying to stay busy and distracted until score release, otherwise I want to just cry. Best of luck, @royalhat402!

    REG - Passed
    BEC - Passed
    AUD - Passed
FAR - Passed!!!! I have my life back.

After reading what philly4life wrote, and others in prior months, my only logical explanation is that there is a curve, philly4life probably did as bad as she thought, but many other students did a lot worst.

That happened as well to me. Im taking FAR in July for the third time I decided to go at it at all angles this time thats why I am not only using Becker but now Ninja Notes and Ninja MCQS up til exam day. I scheduled it out as far as July 23rd to better prepare. I truly think the first time taking it I was trying to get a peek at the exam since this was my very first cpa exam. Then the second time I used Becker only. I was floored the second time because I just new I passed because I skipped the ones I did'nt know. But that was a huge mistake. I know know to be over prepared by purchasing more MCQS and Notes Notes Notes to get in a better review. We all fall it's just that you got to dust yourself off and do it again.

    Reg 7/10/2015, 60, 2/27/2016, 86
Aud, 5/9/2016, 74 (ouch), 7/26/2016, I cannot wait to take this test again
    Bec, 6/10/2016, 70,9/8 retake
