FAR is so big I have trouble enough memorizing everything in GAAP. Then you throw IFRS in the mix, and it’s way too overwhelming. I’m considering for the most part not focusing at all on IFRS as I review for one more week before my test. Is this dumb? Or am I only likely to see maybe 3-5 IFRS questions on the entire exam?

I think you will definitely see more than 5 IFRS questions on the exam and you may also get an IFRS SIM. I did.

Do accountants in other countries need to worry about learning GAAP?

There are no shortcuts taking the CPA exam. That is my advice. I'd start studying IFRS ASAP.

I agree… keeping track of GAAP, IFRS, governmental, and non profit is enough to make you go crazy… but don't underestimate the importance of being familiar with each.

If you use Becker, there is a nice summarized GAAP vs IFRS somewhere in F10. This definitely came in handy during my review.

I have to be honest with everyone: Whenever I read a IFRS question, I read it in the voice of one of the British board members from one of my old jobs. Sure it is kind of weird, but it replaces the fear with some humor.
