How Long Do You Sulk?

Just got my score today for FAR…. 72. Studied extremely hard for it and gave it all I had. This is technically my second attempt at it but my first attempt was mid 2013, was my first test ever, and was completely unsure of how to prepare back then.

I’ve passed REG (84 – April 2014) and wanted to knock out FAR before I take on the other two “easier” exams. I just feel so deflated and upset and feel overwhelmed having to go over the huge amount of material that is FAR all over again. I’m very persistent and think I just needed to type this out as some kind of therapy.

Any words of encouragement are welcome…

My advice would be to sulk today, but then get right back at it tomorrow. Since you came so close, you should probably schedule an exam at the beginning of Q4 and start studying for it immediately. Hit all the areas that you feel you're weak on. And remember that FAR has the lowest passing percentage, and some people score as low as the 40s and 50s, so don't beat yourself up for too long.

I'd probably give myself today and Friday (since i do little studying on Friday anyway). Then Saturday get back in there with a full day of studying. Prioritize your weak areas and start hitting those first

    AUD - 65, 89!
    REG - 70, 89!
    FAR - 78!
    BEC - 77!

    Finally!

I'm 50-50 on if I passed or failed AUD yesterday so I'm going to sulk until I get my score and if I did fail probably sulk for the rest of my life

If you got a 72 then you need to just drill questions from now until your exam and you will no doubt pass next time.

    AUD 84
    FAR. 78(expired/retake 5/9/16)
    BEC 77
    REG 76

Never sulked. It was a luxury I couldn't afford. If you look way back at my posting history you'll see I found out I failed AUD at 1am on a Saturday and was at CVS by 7 am that day buying new highlighters, notebooks and index cards.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

It's like a bad break up. Give yourself a day or two to sulk, and then pick yourself up. Life goes on.

I didn't sulk long when I failed FAR on my first attempt because I knew I wasn't completely ready. Having passed FAR and BEC since then, I would probably sulk if I fail AUD this Saturday. But that's mainly because if I pass this time I know I have a year to pass REG which will take some of the pressure off (although I would hope to have REG done in Nov or Jan – I'm tired of this and want it over with.)

But back on topic – I think a day or two of sulking is OK. But then, turn it into anger. As others have said here, when you get pissed off at the exam it makes you work harder to defeat it.

I feel your pain, try making a 74 in Auditing not once, not twice, but 3 times! The first time, I was so upset and sad. The last two times, I WAS MAD. This test is not going to defeat me. Just give yourself a day or two then get mad and dive back into it. Never ever ever give up.

    REG - 75
    BEC - 76
    AUD - 76
    FAR - 84, DONE 11/9/14!

Wow sstephenson, I'm looking at your scores and you are RIGHT there, huh? Pass FAR now and you're done! Fail now and you begin to lose credit, right?

This second time I'm taking it, I have been giving myself two weeks off between each test for some “normal” life so I don't feel so deprived and depressed while I'm studying whenever people ask me to do things. So far that method has been much more effective than my first time around! I also am unique, I believe, in that I don't always look at my scores as soon as they are released. I wait until I am ready in my study pattern. That saves me from having to limit my sulking/celebrating.

    "Don't worry, beeeeee happy!"

A day or two of crying, followed by several days of planning your comeback and starting all over..as if you know nothing about the topic. Works like a charm.
