I am going to take Far by the end of this week and due to some schedule conflicts, I have to schedule to take the test at 8 a.m. Before, I only scheduled to take the test at 12 or 12:30. I am wondering if anyone has experience taking exam this early and do you think it is doable?

    Thank you!!!

I'm just the opposite. I usually take my exams at 8am, but I could only get in for the afternoon appointment. For me personally I feel the morning is the best time. There isn't too much time to stress and I'm refreshed and feel ready to go after eating a sensible breakfast. In my opinion you shouldn't let the time of day be a factor in your exam. If you're ready, you're ready and it doesn't matter if it's morning, noon, or night.

    Best of luck!

    FAR: 74, 83
    REG: 76
    BEC: 77
    AUD: 89

@LKD CPA, you are right. The thing is I'm more of night person. I usually study until 1 or 2 am. I always schedule at noon to make sure that I have enough sleep before the exam. But I guess I should change my schedule from now so I can wake up early on the exam day.

8am exams are the best. Get up around 5, get some good caffeine and a solid breakfast and arrive to the testing center by 645. My testing center has an open area so I grab my ninja notes and wiley books and just kinda graze over the basics. Outside the center by 740 and testing by 750. Line it up and knock it out early.

P.S. I just moved and my testing center is now 30 miles away (I have 3 within 10 miles of me now) but I will still be driving the 30 miles to get to my good luck center. 3 up, 3 down, don't wanna jinx myself.

The last time I took AUD was at 8 am. I got there 20 min early and had to wait in line for about 25 min because of other the other people signing in at the same time. Other than that it wasn't any different from taking it at other times.

I've take two tests, both at 8 AM on Fridays. That way I could leave and go spend the rest of the weekend drowning my sorrows if I felt I did poorly.

    FAR: 55, 52, 66
    REG: 84*
    AUD: 54, 70, 73, 72, 79!!!
    BEC: 75*

That's usually the time I preferred…but after being forced into a couple afternoon slots I've realized that I do better in later times. (Which makes sense because I am NOT a morning person.) Morning tests don't seem to be much different. The exception, as stated above, is that it seems to be a “rush” hour.

Studying with Wiley Review, Wiley Test Bank, Ninja Audio.
    Retakes with Ninja MCQ only...awesome!
    Far - 1/28 72, 7/22 79
    Aud - 2/28 70, 8/14 83
    Bec - 4/10 80
    Reg - 5/30 64, 7/2 82

The 8AM slots are the best. You can get there early, review notes and they normally let you start early. If you aren't a morning person, then I guess 8AM probably won't be very good for you though.

I'm in the same boat, 8 and 9 am only for me!

I have a suspicion that we are all 8 am office people though 🙂

    REG- (1) 76
    FAR- (2) 64, (5)74, (7)83 (Over achiever!)
    AUD- (3) 70, (4) 75

Took my second exam at 8:00 and got my first pass! Even though I didn't start testing till 9:30 due to the amount of people that were testing at the same time.

    FAR - 46, 79 (7/8/14)
    AUD - 56, 59, 2/23/15 3rd times a charm!
    BEC - 69, 74 Really??
REG - April, I hope. Fingers crossed!

I've taken 6 exams, 4 at the 8AM time slot and 2 at the 12:30 time slot. My two failures came when I took my test at 12:30.

I defintely perfer the 8AM time slot, I do my best work in the morning and am more focused.

I take all my exams at 8am. I like it because I get to roll home, go to lunch with my husband and then have my whole afternoon ahead of me (well, my REG exam was during busy season, so I actually went to work after my exam). Actually for FAR and BEC, I did them Friday morning and had the whole (sorta long) weekend ahead of me.

I can't study right before an exam. Way too wound up.

    The only drawbacks are:

    1. If you have trouble sleeping, a noon exam gives you a nice buffer for sleeping in.

    2. There's always a bunch of people at Prometric and only one person at a time can be checked in. So it creates a backlog. This delays the start of your exam by 5-10 minutes. Plus if you take a long time in the bathroom, everyone knows it because they're all waiting! Not that this has happened to me – but I worry every time that it might.

    REG - 94
    BEC - 92
    FAR - 92
    AUD - 99

I always preferred to take exams at 9am. I never studied on exam day, just reviewed a few notes, so I didn't need all morning to get ready. I didn't want to wait around all morning for my exams so I always took the 9am slot when possible.

I usually go for noon on a Friday… My last exam I took was REG on Sunday morning or maybe it was Saturday? I had to move it up because I had planned it for the Friday of the first week of our Audit. I don't know if the Sunday before the audit made it any better. I was still scrambling last minute trying to get everything in order for the auditors. It was peaceful that morning, and afterwards I still had plenty of time to spend with the family. We took a drive up to the mountains to this freezing cold lake in May. I didn't pass though…

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

I took my first two attempts at 8am and actually enjoy getting it over with, but I think that the lack of sleep from tossing and turning and anticipating the exam can be a hamper.

Last time I did a 3:30pm time and spent the entire day studying up to it and felt amazing taking the exam. My next exam is scheduled at 12:30 and I think that might be perfect. Enough time to sleep in, study get a good meal in and relax before I sit.

I'll let you know which is the best. 3:30 is probably too long of a wait.
